People who wave at each other while driving are simply caravanners (who always acknowledge each other) who've not yet noticed that they've lost their caravans ;-)

As an ex MGB owner, we always did it years ago
I got my first car, which was a Mini, about 20 years ago. All Mini owners used to wave to each other, from teenage boys to elderly ladies. I recently got another Mini after a gap of 15 years or so. Now no one waves. We all eye each other's cars up, though.
I remember that Reliant ( three wheelers ) used to do the wave.
Citroen drivers used to do it back in the 1970s when they were rare in the UK.
I used to get it sometimes when I had my Subaru Impreza.

I'm going to restart the craze in my Toyota Yaris. But only the same colour!
US VW Vanners do too.

I like to think of it as comradeship and shared pain and misery at the sheer cost of their upkeep and willing each other uphill!
When did the AA patrols stop saluting AA members?
OH does, he did when he had a porsche and does now he has a jag. Bit pathetic really.

I have a Ford Ecosport and there are not many around here, there is only 1 other the same colour so me and the other lady wave when we pass.
I thought that VW Beetle owners were the originators of the wave. The story is that soldiers returning from service in Germany after the war would bring them back with them. They were rare in the UK and, if you saw another one, the chance was that it was a fellow soldier who was driving it. Certainly in the early 60's VW drivers were th only ones I know of who waved to each other.
I wave at all the other veyrons I see
Me too!
Flash Rover wannabe Jaguar drivers ;)
