which I have unfortunately driven into the iron gate post on our drive :o( I was lucky I think,in that it only smashed the passenger side wing mirror:0). I have ordered a new unit £45 and wonder if anyone has any idea how much it might be to take it to a garage to have it fitted, or might they only be interested if they suppy the unit? Mr Posy 'does his nut' every time he looks at it.........:0(

Is the mirror colour matched to car/chrome / or just primed to be painted with appropriate matching colour?

Shouldn't be an expensive drama to remove some trim and undo a securing nut then disconnect wires manual or electrical and reconmect. £20-30 labour from a friendly garage not a dealership.

Afraid I have loads of experience replacing door mirrors. Onlymon my wife's cars you understand. Not mine :-)

have you no car salvage companies is your area we have "motor hog" round here, prices are a third or less than new parts and can be fitted

Never noticed any salvage places around here Ivor, but it is too late now anyway as the unit is coming tomorrow (Not bad going, I only pranged it last night too!!) (I blame the fog -lol)

Ho ho ho and pigs might fly Wolf63, Actually I have been driving in and out of the gates for 20years now and this is the first time it has happened (and that is my story and I am sticking to it!!!! :0)

I actually believe pigs do fly. I recall taking delivery of a brand new Lada Estate about 30years ago. I entrusted it to my wife's tender mercy (nurse) to travel to work and I went past her hospital to work on my motorbike most days.
After the first week of ownership I noticed two large pyramid shaped indentations going North from the bottom of the door sills and buckling the lower part of the doors. When I asked my dear wife how the damage happened she said she had no idea and was unaware until I had pointed it out to her.
Riding past the hospital a few days later I saw our pride and joy parked on a paved area beside the main gate.The kerb height was about 2ft 6". The clearance of the bottom of the sill to road surface was about 18" on the car. When I asked Penelope Pitstop if she had heard a horrible graunch and judder when mounting the kerb line she said ,"No. I must of had the radio on a bit loud"
"Sweetheart this is a basic Russian Lada. I have made an appointment to have a radio fitted next week at my pals In car entertainment shop. Remember?"
When I have a catalogue of disasters and excuses I do believe piggies do fly. :-)

Well I'm with Penelope on this retrocop-everyone knows that Ladas were 'before their time'-you probably never noticed the 'state of the art' music centre hidden in the streamlined dash.
P.S. We had an Isetta and it was exactly the same - rofl
