Ford Fiesta MK4 cam belt question

Ive got a 1.25i Zetec fiesta that is ready for a new cambelt (done 63,000 in 8 years and dont think its been done). Is it a twin cam or single? How much would you estimate the cost will be? Cheers for any replies!

Twin cam engines usually have 'twin cam' written on them! ;)  But if you can see two cam covers with cam gears at the end then it will be a twin cam.  Of course if you don't know what you're looking for....

As for price, I'm assuming that you mean to have one fitted rather than the cost of an actual belt?  Easiest thing to do is just ask a Ford garage for a quote.  Then you can shop around and see whether other garages are more expensive or cheaper.  If it is just the belt you're after, again check with any decent parts shop.  If they're good they'll come out to your car and check what engine you have free of charge.

And make sure the quote is for a full kit including pulleys etc - not just for changing the belt itself. Qoutes for my 2 ltr Zetec Mondeo are around �190 - �220 from good local garages, NOT main dealers. Good luck.

In case you are not aware, the cam belt on a 1.25 does not have to be changed until 100,000 miles or 10 years. However, it's better to change it earlier if you don't know the full history of the car.

Hey pj200010, i've got an X reg 1.25 Fiesta Zetec. The manual says 5 years or 80,000 miles but someone else has also told me 10 years or 100,000 miles. Is the manual incorrect?
