My daughter has a Peugeot 107, 8 years old. Car diagnosed by garage with slipping clutch (it had all the symptoms). We have had quotes from several garages going from £250 to £395. The nearest one to her home is the £395 garage and she was told not to drive it as it was dangerous. My question is, compared with the others, is this price a bit OTT or is that what she should reasonably expect to pay? Thank you.
Chris Citroen notorious for their complicated and sometimes innovative engineering solutions. When I was at a company making power steering systems. Citroen and Puegot was part of PSA group.Citroen had their power system fluid running through the actual casting where as Puegot had tradionnal piping?
Thank you all for your interesting replies. The car is now fixed and no damage to the flywheel. I have used mobile mechanics before Tonyav and found them to be very good but we didn’t want to take any chances and she felt very uncomfortable driving it after he said it was dangerous. As her Mum, I didn’t want to put her under any pressure, just wanted her to be safe. Cheers everyone.
Well of course it's dangerous to drive a car with a slipping clutch!
The mechanic is quite right; what if you have to get out of harm's way pronto, and you put your foot down and the car barely moves?
