i have just got myself an astra mk4 sRI, now i want to modify it a bit. i want to mesh the front grill but im not sure whether this is easily possible as a DIY because the bonnet release plastic bit comes through the grill. Ive looked all around the internet and can find anything on it, so maybe you can help. im thinking of taking the old one off, spraying the new mesh black, then putting the new mesh on. Is there any way of me opening the bonnet without the plastic release coming through the grill? thanks for anyhelp

My Husband says that there is a company called Imerschimer, they make after market parts for Vauxhalls - they may be able to help.

thanks, i have seen these but the thing is that everybody has these, i just wanted to be a bit original but i think im just going to have to go for one of their products! thanks for answering!
Have you joined the Vauxhall online community? Lots of fellow enthusiasts on there, with lots of info and ideas to share. Sorry I dont have the address any more but Im sure you can find it on Google.
Please dont overdo it whatever you do, cars with lots of extra bits bolted on all over the place honestly just look ghastly!
Impret - Sir - I dunno I think that modded cars look fab, my Husband has got me really into it!!! He took me to Maxpower, 2 years ago and now I'm hooked!!! I'm assuming you have an Impreza, please don't say its standard!!!! I don't like cheap and over the top but little added extra give it the 'wow factor!'

kh_merrills, of all my time ive asked Qs on here nobody has ever backed my view that modified is best! i think just changing little bit on your car can change the way it looks totally and makes your car yours! i also think that people who spend thousands on making thier cars look mad are great and id love to do that! i agree some cars look good as standard and should be left alone, but others can be made to look so much better just by changing the little bits!
Did you modify your Saxo - I really want a VTS and trust me,it will be modified!!!!
Question Author
yea my saxo was my 1st car, and when i had it i adreamed of having a VTS, soo nice! but because of my age the insurance on it is just stupid. so ive got myself an astra now which is another car that ive always liked thelook of. i prefered doing the bits on the saxo on my own though so it was never top classbut it was good enough for what i wanted! just trying to save up a bit of money to do stuff to the astra. good thing about the saxo is that there is so much stuff available for it! id def say go 4 a VTS though!
kh, Yes I have an Impreza, and yes it is modified, but not visibly! All the modifcations are out of sight, to engine, suspension, brakes etc. I havnt even fitted a louder exhaust because I dont want to attract attention to the car, I like the thought of going around almost unnoticed, but having that big punch ready when I need it! I much prefer that to the big noisy pipe, huge spoiler, naff body kit, blaring sterio look that I so often see posing around, these mods always seem to have been done to mechanically standard cars, so when it really matters, they cant pull the skin off a rice pud. I agree, a well done, tastefully and professionally modified car can look really good, what I was refering to was the 'classic' covered in glue and ram-raided Halfords look that really makes me cringe. I often think that the money that was spent on these tired old heaps of Novas, Escorts, Astras and the like could have been saved and then the owner could have bought a better car in the first place!
I like your thinking but, I do like Saxos, Astras etc when they are modded tastfully not crappy Halfords style agreed - its gives the younger (who may have have an ridiculous insurance quote for a beautiful car such as an Impreza) a chance to actually get a better than average car not just a embarrassing Nova!!! Sorry Nova fans!!!!

exactly, i agrre about the halfords bit but its all about making the best of what you have got, if all you can afford is a heap of rust then why not do stuff to make it look a bit better!
I totally agree!!!!!!!!
