Hi Abers. I am no stranger to the tools but have never changed a glow plug in my life. How do I change a set on a 2.5 td Transit 2000 and is there anything i should be aware of?

Thanks very much.

be very carefull trying to get them out, they tend to get very tight and sometimes they snap, then you have to have them drilled out,i would let a garage do it mate, better be safe then sorry.
norman is right, the best way is to have the engine as hot as possible before you attempt the job. but, are you absolutley sure the plugs are dud? try the ford transit forum at www.fordtransit.org for diagnostic advice
i have never seen a transit 2.5d fitted with glowplugs.
as long as its the duratorq engine it has got them. to be picky it's actually a 2.4 i assumed that was the engine sparky meant.
yes v64paul, you are quite correct, but if sparky says 2.5 then i guess you have to assume he means 2.5. i suppose he does have a ford transit?

Boy do I feel sheepish! It does appear the 2.5 td doesn't have glow plugs at all!
But this still begs the question 'why is the transit a bit low on power?' I gave it a service which improved the power slightly but it still isn't quite right. The plugs were my last guess - any ideas ABers?

Thanks again.
the plot thickens, as far as i am aware a 2000 built transit has the duratorg in several stages of tune and in 2.0 and 2.4 versions. i reccomend again www.fordtransit.org in particular a contributor called nighthawk who is a ford master tech. tell him i sent you!
