Hi All,

I have noticed my car breaks have become squeaking - so I asked my mechanic to check them, and he replaced the discs and pads, on the front, but now they are squeaking all the time when i apply my foot break, even lightly, Its really embarrassing when in traffic - can anyone help. My mechanic said my back breaks would be fine, but i dont think he's even checked them - is there any other reasons for the Squeaky breaks or should i just go somewhere else to get the back ones checked? thanks

ask your mechanic if he refitted the anti squeal shims and recoated them with copperslip?
It is normal practise to put a thin coating of anti-seize grease on the back of pads when fitting.

Quite often it is copper grease (there are other products) - ordinary grease would just melt with the heat of braking and contaminate the brake pads.

If this was missed, it may explain the brake squeal.
