is this good to put on the car to stop corrosion

It used to be very good years ago when cars rotted at the first drop of rain.

Now car bodywork is much much better and less likely to rot,so it is not necessary.

If your car is less than 10 years old, no you don't need it. Older than that, it's a good idea.
You put it in the car not on.

It has to be injected into all the enclosed box sections of the car to stop them rusting, a long complicated job if done properly.

As Ethel says not nesassary now with modern rust proofing.

the reason i ask is ..it was recomended to me...my trusty nissan micra that i have had for 9yrs from new has corroded very very badly on the cross member and so i have to to trade it in....i have now have just bought an 8yrs micra and the cross member is fine for now but i want to prevent it from happening again.....as i need this one too last as long as i can as i am now skint lol

also is it best to was and polish and wax a car every week
