has anyone renewed their driving licence

If so were all the categories carried forward,?
as i have just had mine returned,
with cat's A.
B.
BE.
B1.

Which means i have lost category,C. < C1.< D.< D1.<andE. Does anyone know why this is so?,

Craft just checked mine and it is the same as yours, unless you have A above the B, but if you don't it is an automatic license like mine

No I am licensec to drive a manual gearshift car - well I passed my test in one

A is for motorcycles

c1 is for vehicle weight of,3.5 - 7.5 tonnes
D1 is for passenger vehicles of between 8 and sixteen seats as long as you are not carrying them for reward.

But you don't have an A above the B? The license without the A means you are only licensed to drive an automatic.
Logic what is f,k,l,n,p after all the categories/

The B category covers both manual and automatic cars, I think it has a note beside it if it's for automatic only.

I just renewed my licence because of a change of address. I have just spoken to the DVLA and they have assured me mine is a full licence (not just for automatics) and category A refers only to motocycles.

not on the actual pink licence there isn't Chuck, maybe it is on the counterpart, I know I am only legal in an auto.

B is for manual.
A. is for motor cycle with or without sidecar.
Obviously, CRAFT did not take a motorcycle test.

sorry craft yes you're right, and if you look on the link chuck gave us, the other number codes in the right hand column of the pink license are the ones for whether you need glasses or can only drive autos, 01.for glasses and 78 for autos, and there are other number codes on the listy he gave too .

no Logic - 10 years to go .......... Well no actually 9 now!! With the old licence I would have had to apply again on 31/07/2018 as I am 70 on 01/08/2018 but as the new licences only last 10 years this one expires 20/09/2017. (Sorry I thought I hadn't had it long and I actually got it 21/09/2007!!)

If you are sending an old style license back to the DVLA for a 'new' style one, always take a photocopy first. If some driving entitlements don't appear on your new photo ID, you wont get them back without the proof of the copy.
