Who is liable.....hypothetical situation.
If you take your car to a garage for an MOT say and leave it there all day and pick it up after work, are they liable for any damage done during that time. if for example it is parked on the road and then get's the mot done, then gets parked back on the road. if during the time it is left on the road it gets damaged, would you expect the garage through their insurers to foot the bill. I suppose what I'm really asking is, are the garage responsible from when you hand over your keys to when you collect the car?

I think it's down to whether they are negligent or not. If they leave it on the road outside parked perfectly legally and reasonably and some twat decides to drive into it, you've got no chance of them being found liable. If they decide to park it under a tree with big signs saying "don't park here" under it and 3 blokes with chainsaws chopping branches off it and one of them falls on the car, then you've got every chance.
