Some good suggestions from you all Thanks
see a counsellor??
Pay me to come down there and pretend I'm a passenger. My RAC cover will have you out of there in no time ;)
No I prefered the Fiestas (I've owned 5 of them in the past)

The last one was a fully restored MK1 XR2 with a hand built engine bored out to 1760cc all parts lightened, polished, ported etc, that little thing flew until I severely modified it's shape using a telegraph pole :(

I think that I should join a organization to be on the safe side really
It is for this that I pay the AA money every year in case I breakdown. Even if I don't use them I consider it money well spent for peace of mind.........
dusty do you have a tesco club card?
I always renew my RAC membership using club card points. It's only something like £22 for a years membership which includes breakdown, recovery and onward travel :)
agree with craft.

the cost of breakdown cover is well worth it for the peace of mind.
well if it is just hypothetical ,i would get out flash my legs (drivers would go to the nearest town and report a mad woman/man)as we couldn't phone rac/aa even if we were covered ,would maybe start walking my luck would walk 15 miles in one direction to find that my car is 2 miles off civilization in other
I have to call the AA if I get a puncture............SmartCars don't have spares..........
would or could you change your own wheel if you did have a spare though?
if I had to Chuck yes.............
actually Chuck I'll change that to a no..............a few years ago I could but not nowadays due to my arthritis....I know the theory but couldn't do it in practice.......
craft did your car not come with an aerosol that you completely deflate your tyre ? if not you can buy them for about 7 pounds tells you how to use it on the can ,trying to find it on the internet the now it would be very good for you in this scenario if you couldn't phone rac
http://www.fixaflat.com/ is good stuff, but theres also the stuff cherry was refering to. The stuff you put in before you have a puncture that dries instantly when the tire is pierced.
cheers cherry but I have a Smart membership with the AA so they know if I have a puncture they have to send out a low-loader and take it for replacing. The last time this happened was in a very crowded Tesco's car park...
craft next time break down near a pub like I did :)

Some have suggested you call out the AA or RAC, join and get them to rescue you.

I’m not a member of either organization – but I don’t think it works like that, otherwise why join at all? All members could save themselves the annual membership fee, only paying once they have a breakdown. The AA/RAC would be severely out of pocket, only receiving membership money from motorists who had broken down, and for this money they would have attended at least one call out.

The AA/RAC might come to your aid, but I would expect them to want loads of money and you to join.

My advice would be to call out a local garage (and possibly get ripped off).
In my 30+ years of driving, without being in a breakdown organization, I have never had a breakdown I couldn’t sort myself.
If the worst came to the worst and I was charged £1,000 to get back home – I would still be up of the deal of paying an annual fee of £40.
