It very much depends on how deep the scratches are, wash the car and T-Cut it...this usually works on cosmetic surface scratches....Colour Magic is pretty good too.

sorry if I sound dumb but what is t-cut, most are quite fine one is pretty bad but thought if I could cover the fine ones would look a bit better
T-Cut is a lightly abrasive liquid used to restore car paintwork
back to its original condition. If your car is more than a few
years old then it will more than likely benefit from a little TLC
from its owner. You can get this from Halfords...its made by CarPlan.

It is also ideal for removing small paintwork scratches.

thats great thanks, anything will help as desperatly need to sell it
After my car reversed itself into the garage about 6 months ago (yes, the handbrake was on) I bought a bottle of t-cut and the scratches still have not re-appeared as I expected they would after a few washes. Whilst I was in halfords I noticed a more specialised scratch removal system. It was only about a tenner from memory and looked quite complicated as it came with all sorts of little potions, etc. They did have specified colour matches for seemingly all modern cars so that could be worth looking into if the t-cut doesn't help enough.

thanks prob i have with colour match stuff is my car is orange so bit unusual
I just ring the gorgeous bloke from Chipsaway and watch his butt when he's bending over hiding my scratches
Hi most cars nowadays are laquered so T cut will not work.
providing that the scratch has not gone through to the undercoat & that the the scratch is only light.(you are able to see the original paint)
wipe the scratch with meths to remove any grease then using laquer & a fine brush just lightly work down the scratch then leave to dry.
