Do I need to use a tachograph when renting a 7.5 ton vehicle for a domestic removal?

Also, does the company that is leasing it need an operator's licence?

If you are hiring the van for your own personal use, you don't need a tacho. If you are being paid to move someone and the van is over 3.5T GVW you do. Similarly, If you are working for 'hire and reward' and the vehicle is over 7.5T GVW you need an O Licence. If you are doing it for yourself, you don't.
if the vehicle is fitted with a tacho it has to be used i belive
