Oh ! Doc - what memories, I was 17 in 1960 and I remember buying the Stones LP with Little Red Rooster and King Bee etc. etc. The 60's were the greatest time, I saw the Beatles in Hull in 1962, jiving at youth clubs two or three times a week with just lemonade and crisps to keep us happy. The can't take that away from me....
Hi moonshadow.

This is quite funny because my mum had a discussion with someone about this today. wasn't you was it?
But I think you are wrong.
Era's change, and so does the music, and what about the people before the beatles?
There was music before then.
And are you saying that classical music, written in the 1600 are crap, just because your era 'was the 'best'?
Times change and people grow up with different music and different experiences, making them relate to certain songs.
There is some great music and musicians today and some seriously awful ones, just as there was back then.
And no doubt, in 60 years time, some bands of today will be idolised the way the beatles were.

Doc Spock and emeritus...
Im 16, and I have no idea of any songs in the 60s.
You only know the charts then because that was the music you were into and therefore saw the chart then and there.
People like me know the chart of the past few years, whos been in and out.
So surely that makes your statement emeritus wrong?

Great memories Doc. Interesting post from Scarlett and I just thought it was me getting older.
My youngest son(25) loves sixties music and often says he wishes he was around then because we had the best music. He has been to several concerts with me over the years of the old groups doing the rounds. We both throughly enjoyed Jerry Lee Lewis, Chuck Berry and Little Richard at the Wembley arena a few years back.Good Father/son bonding.

And sleepy, Have you ever actually tried looking at some of it and the lyrics. If your son listens to R&B and hip hop and screamo.
Then I apologise. hehe.
But I listen to alot of music, including some older motown, and I think music was soulful and fun then. But I can't relate my emotions to it.
Whereas nowdays. I can find a lot of music I can relate to.
Sorry to keep on, but it seems a bit unfair when you probably haven't listened to it.
