heavens only knows ickeria, that was another big mistake touting an actual date, i reckon that we are going to have this for 2021 or most of - as much as that grieves me to say it
The 2m rule wasn't plucked out of thin air though. The scientists had a formula, maths based on surface area of a sphere, heard it on science program on radio 4. Eg 1m might stop 75%, 1.5 m 90%, 2m 95%, 3m 97%' 4m 97.5%. 5m 98%. So big savings up to 2m, marginal savings above 2m, law of diminishing returns? Would need to be 10m to be 99.9% but that's impracticle. Maybe jim366 can explain it better.
We are possibly going back into lockdown because of the partying before NY curfew. Lots who partied now sick. Masks compulsory in all indoor public places and public transport. Face shields accepted but frowned on. Security stops entrance without mask and allows shields if you have official Dr. note with his stamp on it. UK needs legislation to allow security guards to enforce masks. All large supermarkets here have security
To emmie...you really need to speak directly to the manager of your local Waitrose, if it's not as it should be. My local store has foot-operated hand sanitizer at the entrance and throughout the store, masks must be worn (or else!), trolley/basket handles and handsets are sanitized after use etc...it's the safest place in town.
It's all down to the store manager.
Margarettom, just because you can wear a face mask it doesn't mean everybody can. I struggle to breathe without a mask and couldn't possibly wear one although I would if I could. My shopping I do on-line so I don't go into shops at all.
Where I live you wouldn't know there was a pandemic. Hardly anyone sticks to the distance rule in fact you'd get knocked over if you didn't move out of the way. The only time I go out is to take my dog for a walk and it's a nightmare. I don't know how much longer I can stand this.
LB sad to say this seems to be the same up here, no one seemingly sticking to the distance rules, though i don't get out much at all now. But even sitting in the shopping centre no one going shopping was adhering to laws about distance -
Oh don't be sad Bobs, please;-)))
I just get cross when someone seems to think if they can wear a mask everyone can. This afternoon I have to take J to the vet and because of my extremely vulnerable status I pull up outside, ring them to let them know I'm there and they come out to the car and collect J and take him in to the vet and bring him back again afterwards. I pay them over the phone while I am still outside. Good eh?
Hmmm. I'm wondering how easily he will go with someone he doesn't know, who is trying to take him away from me who he adores!! Could be fun, eek!
i have only known two people who don't wear a mask and one is waterboatman, as he has COPD, and another friend who has refused to wear one, though that might have changed since he ended up in hospital after having a stroke.
