There are already signs in the data that the current measures are having some effect -- it would make sense to build on this effect. Alongside the vaccination programme, which I understood should be accelerating from this week, there's reason for hope.
No. I believe they should be keeping a light touch with the rules. Protect the vulnerable and apply only such rules as necessary to keep hospital admission to a manageable level. All else is dictatorship and treating citizens' personal rights with disdain. At present it seem police are ignoring the rules and fining/charging anyone they feel they can push around as 'low hanging fruit' for the force records. It's a low point in our history, or will be.
I got one too :-). Tinks, the problem with shutting shops earlier, is it gives less time open, so you get more people going all at the same time. If anything, 24/7 shopping might be safer.
This is only a vague semi- lockdown though. The vast majority of people are still going to work, shopping, have a "bubble", childcare, schools are open... it seems to be strictest on a handful of people only.
