I have voted in every General Election for the past sixty years and not once has my vote counted because of our first past the post system. Until we get proportional representation it seems I shall miss out - unless I move house ...... or party!

Me too, sparkly. We only had 4 choices anyway.

Our method is not a fair one, I agree. Tactical voting should not really be a preference.

I can sympathise wiltsman. Voting Green in my constituency is futile. There are only two in the running but I don't want either of them as my government, so why should I vote for them? If I do vote for either of them and they get in, then I still can't complain because I voted for them.

I will be voting for the Green party and my vote will be recognised. If everyone voted for the parties they actually wanted in power, instead of having to vote tactically we may get a true representation of UK voters and who they want in power.
Question Author
I wonder how many people would vote green if they felt that they didn't need to vote Labour just to topple the tory government.

I am all for NOT voting tactically. It's an epidemic. You get these hard lefties voting tactically thinking they're doing the right thing but they are absolutely destroying fair voting.
So am I, but it is understandable with the system we have. On mine (not that I would have voted for them anyway) , UKIP, Brexit Party etc weren't even an option. And frankly, the Tories would win here even if nobody actually turned up to vote. It has to be wrong.
Plus all voting slips should be the same. On mine was Conservative, Libdem, Labour and Green. That was it.
I’m not voting at all this time
Can't really blame you, RR. I often don't, as there is nobody worth voting for. I think it is more AB that has encouraged me to the last 2 times.
Question Author
Not going to vote but I bet you have a strong political opinion.
Not speaking for RR... but personally, I have often had strong opinions, with nobody who represented them.
I wouldn't vote Green under any circumstances. Airy-fairy bunch.

Have you read their manifesto, Naomi24?
Just got back from a 20 minute round trip walk to the polling station in a bitingly-cold wind with sideways rain.

I just hope the country appreciates my effort.
I don’t feel my vote has any effect on which government is in parliament

Imagine the amount of jobs planting 700 million trees would create
Imagine the amount of jobs, building 100,000 zero carbon homes would create
Imagine the amount of jobs moving to sustainable energy would create
Imagine how social care could be restructured with an investment of 4.5 billion a year.
Imagine the amount of jobs would be created from spending 2.5 billion on cycle routes.
The green party want to scrap the first past the post system.

Vote green.

Well it does.
No it doesn’t
The Green(behind the gills) Party. The cult of St Greta, in existence to dupe the hand wringers and falsely pious. Haha. Perfect choice by him then.
You tell me how it does TD
