Why has my Pint of London Pride gone up so much?

Last week £3.70 not £3.10 in the Square Mile, so why such the rise ?

The Breweries and the Govt are ripping us all off, no wonder so many Pubs are closing every week ! I love my Cask Ales but cannot afford to go out as often these days .

So nice to Socialise with Friends in the 'Local' Bobbi, but it's becoming expensive.
You will not see a soul daytime in some of the Pubs during the week unless they do meals and that is a great shame.

The budget put 17p on a pint i think, but with fuel charges (making the stuff, the raw ingredients and getting it to the pubs uses more costly fuel....

My Dad had a pub that was originally with Moorlands brewery. Moorlands then got taken over by Green King and the cost of running the pub went up so much that the business went bust. This was 10 odd years ago and it's just continued to get worse. I don't know why anyone would want to be a puclican these days.

About the only place you can go for a Cheapish Pint now is a Wetherspoon Pub, but the Character and Atmosphere of the old Traditional Pubs is not there.
Times are a changing and it's not for the better either as far as Pubs go.
Am I getting old ? lol

Hi Milly, same up here, they all go out to tender now, our local has had about 12 managers in the last couple of years or so

There is nowhere you can go for a nice, quiet pint now, all the pubs serve food, seem to have huge screen TV's for sport, and those with function rooms have 70's night discos, singles nights, quizzes, etc just to get the punters in.

There's 20 pubs between here and town on a road approx 1.5 miles...all seem to be doing ok.

Bring back Spitoons, Busty Barmaids, Real Ale served from Jugs from the Cask, Dominoes, swearing and that last Orders Bell. And a few fags thrown in too.

Yep, it's very sad. There are 6 pubs in our village (used to be 7) and all but one of them are running a loss. I know a couple of the landlords well. One of them is being bankrolled by his parents in law - who knows how long that will last. And the other says at this rate he only has a couple of months left in there. He's having to put on things like rave nights, which he hates doing just to drag the local youth in and earn a bit of money. I don't think there will be 6 pubs around much longer.

The nearest pub to me closed down at Christmas and is now a Tesco Express. The second nearest has also closed and is now a vet's. Going to the pub is now not an option unless we get a taxi there and back. That's too much hassle so it's a bottle of Export for me and a glass of wine for Mrs MM in front of the TV.

It's not the brewers it's pubs and the governement. I used to be Sec in a small club and Stella for example cost us £1 a pint, now big outlets will buy more and get it cheaper, they are knocking it out for up to £4. Of the initial £1 the brewery gets about 35p, the governement get's the rest. I'd say it's the retailers are taking the proverbial.
