Seems like the guy who was attacked did nothing more than walk past minding his own business, unless of course someone can find a link with more info.

The edl claim to be 'Peacefully protesting against militant Islam' Shame no one thought to tell this guy that.

I posted a thread, last night, using the self-same article which, despite my best efforts to keep on topic, meandered off into some rather mean-spirited and highly-suspect comments; so much so that it disappeared.

The EDL supporter was no more than a racist thug.

The article certainly seems to give lie to the fact that the EDL are a 'peaceful' group, doesn't it ?

Although, I should imagine its apologists will trot out the 'one bad apple' nonsense, or claim 'passive provocation'...........

We had an EDL demonstration here, in Blackpool, the other weekend; most of them looked exactly as you would expect them to look ! :o(

Hi samak. I imagine the police know exactly what they are like. I joined FB and I am astounded at the EDL pages on there. Peace and EDL shouldn't even be in the same paragraph never mind the same sentence. The things I've read on some of the groups are terrifying.

Jack I followed the Blackpool one on twitter, I think it said 1500 EDL and 32 MDL were there. They are apparently going to be in Dewsbury at the weekend and from what ive read are planning on Tower Hamlets too..... This is from one of their pages referring to TH

More than likely, but it's a pity the same people can't apply the "one bad apple" idea in the other direction.

There are plenty of Labour and Conservatives members who have been prosecuted for attacks so it is probably not fair on the EDL to tar them all with the same brush.

What is disappointing, is that the EDL have not come out and condemned this man and asked its Stockport members to help to identify him. Right wing racists are attracted to the EDL. and the longer the EDL do nothing to dissaude them, then the conclusion that the EDL condone such behaviour and are racists is hard to deny.

The silence from the EDL and its supporters in condemning this abuse is deafening.
