I've nothing further to post at the moment.
Some of you may have read my earlier comments.
So I'm remaining silent for the moment, in the hope of saving my neck. I hate the thought of Bristol's Suspension Bridge. I don't think there is such a structure in Norfolk.

I don't like going into Gt Yarmouth either .
But we do have a bridge .In fact we have two The Haven Bridge opened in 1930 by the then Prince of Wales .
Anybody stuck in traffic trying to get across it in the summer would willingly suspend the nearest grockle from the nearest yardarm as they chug through in their boats only to find the river and the North Sea in front of them and then decide to chug back again.
And we have the Breydon Bridge .
But in spite of these bridges ....The phrase " The bridge was up " is a well known excuse round here for being late to work etc and was ever thus :)

I spent 8 months working there in a Gap year on the spit, just down from the Birds Eye factory - great b-fast doorstops from a caff caravan further down the road.
The pub - if I remember right from my hazy past - used to do rat trapping competitions back in the 70s.....one woman came in one night with a bag of about thirty of them, upped the bag and they were alive much to the consternation of all as these roadies went up the curtains and everywhere....closing the pub down for a fair few days to clean it.

LOL I went past the Suspension Bridge in Gt Yarmouth today - there was a suspension bridge there once but it fell down when too many people piled onto it in 1845 - more recently it was a pub as seen in DT's picture.
But you'll all be pleased to know there were no ABers there awaiting their fate, it was all boarded up!!

I used to meet him off the ferry .Though I doubt you would remember a rowing boat across the Yare
In my day Yarmouth was a herring port and my dad was a fisherman .
As a child I remember the boats being packed into the harbour .
All went though ,very suddenly .
My husband worked for Root and Toot when the americans came to town :)

I remember the boat across about 1/2 mile up - there was a pub on the lower front at Gorleston and I roomed with the landlady - and then in a hotel up on the raised beach - just about first around the corner right hand side. Cant remember the names of the places or the folk (I was 17 on what they consider as a gap year now, having done my As at (late) 16.) Can remember they had gorgeous young filly in the pub! My belle was down in London and used to disappear down there on the few weekends off as I worked a cumulative five on, two off and regularly did thirty days straight.

Most of the pubs in Gorleston are sadly long gone .I think my Dad used to do a round trip of them in the old days when he landed :)

But there is still the Cliff Hotel and The Pier Hotel along the front .
We came back here to retire after trotting around the world a bit .

Mind you ..we've had a bypass put through Gorleston .
The old railway station has gone and lots of places have disappeared .
The old Station Hotel .The White Horse at the top of the steps where the Napoleonic guns are are no more .The Holiday camp ..all gone .The lovely open air swimming pool ..gone:(

Oh my goodness - I remember the pool and the maine terrace along the beach
yes seeing places now on Google Earth....down on Pier Road, the landlady's son lived there in one of the terrace houses on the left towards the step....she was around the corner on Beach road in a neat Victorian house that I think was where there is a now a new recon in cream (from the google). the Amusement Bar etc was there and the buildings towards the pier. The pub was just behind and to the upstream side of that.
How amazing - I used to walk the 1/2 to 2/3rds of a mile up to the ferry, cross over and back down to the Expro base on the other side..
