I suppose it depends how long this lasts for. When is it?
I think it already has!
No, But unfortunately I think it will be as these guys involved in the riots are going to kick off big time this year.

If I remember right it's the August Bank Holiday time.
Notting Hill Carnival will take place whatever 'the authorities' say. I'm still looking forward to it anyway!

No, and it should be bigger, brighter and more lively than ever to say FU to all the idiots....
Hopefully it will go ahead as planned and allow the idiots of society to see that most cultures can get on with each other and enjoy life, too many events get cancelled because of knee jerk reactions. All this does is allow the minority to say how the rest of us will act in life (bit like the government in a way!!)
I agree buenchichris and chuck and there are more than enough elder folk to give the young uns a "clip behind the ear" if they try and get too rowdy whilst the carnivals in full swing but at the end as people are going home I reckon they'll have a another run in with the police as they did 2 or 3 years ago.
Boris Johnson is curtailing his holiday and coming back to London. He will announce its cancellation to protect public order.
It should go ahead, but they should ban any cops. We don't want anymore assassinations.
I find your comment quite offensive Gromit.

Seriously?
Who gives a t0ss whether the carnival is cancelled or not?

People have lost their homes and livelihoods, police officers have been injured
Well they've cancelled tomorrow's West Ham match...............
depends how this turns out. If Duggan's death was justified, people will by and large calm down. If it turns out to be just another extra-judicial execution for which nobody is punished, they'll still be angry. The police really need to get this right.
"Who gives a t0ss whether the carnival is cancelled or not? " Several million law abiding non rioters actually.

"People have lost their homes and livelihoods, police officers have been injured"

So let us all never show a smile again, never enjoy ourselves or have fun shall we? Then who's won? THEM!

I understand where you're coming from but the question is - would it be better to cancel the carnival, or go ahead with it, and cock a snoot to the thugs? A lot of people actually DO give a toss about the Carnival - for local businesses in the area ,it's a massive source of annual income.

What is it you fiind offensive?
At the moment we have a dead man. The police said he was shot in retaliltion for one of their own being shot, but it turns out the bullet in the cop's radio was fired from a police gun. The gun recovered from the dead scumbag black gangsta was not a police gun. It was wrapped in a sock. Eyewitnesses said the police shot Duggen while he was on the ground.

So what's your objection?
