The police may not be appearing to take a positive approach to the problem of these mobs on our streets, but should vigilante groups be allowed, brandishing their illegal weapons?
How long would the police tolerate bands of other vigilantes to stand guard outside their premises carrying shot guns or even air weapons?
In a ITV report it stated,

/// He said: "What I don't need is these so-called vigilantes, who appeared to have been drinking too much and taking policing resources away from what they should have been doing - which is preventing the looting." ///

So what are you suggesting, that the EDL were actually needed in Croydon, Clapham, Brixton or Ealing as well as in other places?
They just cannot win, when they are 'hiding in their pubs shouting racial expletives and shaking their fists at the tv' (your words) you are not happy, but you want them to take to the streets?
While they are otherwise occupied, surely it is much better than them out on the streets wielding weapons etc?.

Aog, I'm not suggesting anything as I haven't named myself with a moniker that signifies that I'm in the business of defending this country as the edl have done and have not lived up to their word. I'm merely asking if the edl's business is defending England then why wasn't they? All I seen were drunken middleaged men running through the streets cheering as if they had won some kind of battle.

The EDL don't become involved if mobs are looting and rioting - they see that as the total right of the English people.
No - their remit is to pick on people who move to this country, settle down, raise a family, and may, as indeed do their English neighbours, require occasional help from the state, to which they will be more than willing to contribute when they find employment.
If such people have the helpful knack of having brown skin and Muslim faith, which makes them far more easy to target, then so much the better.
That is what the EDL is for - hope that's cleared up any misunderstanding.

But then it is only the rise of Islam that the EDL seem to be bothered about, and since the terrorist threat we have in this country, comes in the name of Islam one cannot blame their stance.
The trouble in this country is the fact that some groups are allowed to protest against their own particular concerns, whereas others are not.
It would seem by this introduction of the EDL into this thread, certain ABers are more concerned in attacking them than the 'knuckle draggers' that have taken to the streets and partially destroyed our cities.
Save the attacks on the EDL for the appropriate time, or when they commit such crimes as we have seen committed since last weekend.
That is unless you can present evidence that they are also killing, looting, carrying out acts of arson, or attacking our police.

I do not use provocation methods, nether am I an Agent to anyone.
I am an individual that has a mind of my own, and not prepared to follow the flock.
As I have said countless times AB is just a leisure pursuit of mine, and I try and post threads, that are likely to attract enjoyable debate.
But others are only interested in introducing diversions from the original question, correcting typing errors or mistakes in English, associating me with things I have not said, accusing me of issuing insults, which they themselves consider it is perfectly correct for them to take part in first.
If it is provokers you are looking for, take a closer look Ron there are many on this site that make me look a beginner.

Before these riots, the 'Liberal Left' were decrying the police at every opportunity, yet now they are clambering to support them.

Most likely they would also preform a 'U'-turn with the attitude they show against our Armed Forces, if they also found they needed their help or protection.
