Hope everyone had a great xmas, and Santa was generous ;)

Not a fan of hunting with hounds myself - seems barbaric to me - but the current legislation is pretty toothless. Should the law be repealed?

am i the one who keeps bringing fishing into this thread ?

dog fighting is more the working mans barbaric blood sport if it makes you happy put them on the list i made

because i think they are sick in the head so will fit well on my list
I've signed off this thread, as i was getting away from foxhunting, but as you are deviating now, why bring up dogfighting, which is illegal anyway?

ttfn
>> why bring up dogfighting, which is illegal anyway?<<

because you think i only have a class issue and most people do not regard angling as a barbaric blood sport

but they do with dog fighting
am definitely a country lass - am also an animal lover - a quick clean kill by hounds is better than a lingering death from trap or gunshot. Not everyone is 'Dead Eyed Dick' - I've seen the results of so called 'shots'.
It's very odd that no one has commented on my contribution ( Tues 27th) I would have thought that because I am entirely on the side of the underdog I would have been lambasted. ( funny old world).

Ron.
Whiskeryron - your post was a bit subtle for many Grauniad and Morning Star readers - sorry!

We have been pack animals from way back, and first domesticated dogs for hunting, not that I was there at the time.

Would you say you and I represent the reasonable minority, against all forms of killing for pleasure?
DrFilth - what "most people" think doesn't make it right. Most people in white Africa thought apartheid was right.
we have been pack animals?

No way, I'm a loner, like a leopard.
did the telegraph, mail , mirror, express and sun readers all post about it ?
venator >>DrFilth - what "most people" think doesn't make it right. Most people in white Africa thought apartheid was right. <<

so if most people think fox hunting is wrong it could still be right

so we are both wrong
... and contrariwise, to quote the Emperor Augustus, i think it was.

this is getting boring. Civilisation has seen off ,inter alia, gladitoral contests, bear baiting, bull fighting (pretty well), hunting in UK, and angling should be logically next in line.

Let's come back in 20 years and not waste our digital breath for now.
venator >> angling should be logically next in line. <<

it maybe

i would keep you eyes on the fox hunting first with the tories in power

if they bring back fox hunting you are never going to get angling banned
ooh - did someone have a little class dig at the Tories? Careful, your mask is slipping again - it's still boring, boring, boring.

jno - you said elsewhere that tour avatar is your passport photo - are you a predator in Angel's clothing?

it is a dig at the tories not a class dig at the tories
I regret to announce I have lapsed into catatonia, due to boredom and silly hairsplitting. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I think fishing is cruel too. Fishing to eat is OK but just catching fish (which must be painful for them) and throwing them back in a river doesn`t serve any purpose apart from stroking the ego of the angler who catches the biggest one. Although it might not seem like it, the point of fox hunting is to help the farmer keep his fox population down. Hunts don`t just ride roughshod anywhere they like. They never went over my grandfather`s land. If farmers can keep the fox population down on their own, I don`t see any point in bringing back hunting with dogs. I`m not sure where the politics come in either. Most huntspeople I knew were just average joes. Tony Blair is best mates with the head of the Countryside Alliance so the tory/labour point is a bit invalid really.
hope you are not having a fish supper
237sj>> so the tory/labour point is a bit invalid really. <<

labour allowed the vote on the ban / the tories are talking about having a free vote to bring it back

so yes the tory/ labour bit is valid
I`m refering to the implication that hunts people are Tory toffs as opposed to labour working class. As I have said, that is not the case.
here it is on a bbc website
