'Would they have got this banned'?

I could not see anything wrong with the question.

If someone had posted an offensive post, why wasn't just the offending post removed?

Lord_Elpus is still with us, so the Ed will have removed the thread. You could try emailing the Ed to ask why, but I wouldn't expect him to answer. He did not however regard Gromit's thread as one big joke, but as mild ribbing, as did others (including me).
^Naughty DT ;)

Actually, plenty fought and died though

I far as I know the ED is in possession of all our Email addresses, and that should be the correct method in which to send out any personal grievances he may hold against an individual.

He can remove an offensive post, which he does on a regular basis, and he can also warn us en-block on the site, but to openly chastise an individual on site, only gives further opportunities for some to ridicule those who have been openly chastised.
..if people had not come to Britains aid,in providing troops in WW2,from all corners of the world..Caribbean,Africa,India,Anzac..we would have suffered greatly..maybe lost DT!
I don't know that the Ed does have access to individuals' addresses, though I expect they're on the databank somewhere. He'd probably have to ask a techie to dig them out for him. (This is just a guess bassed on some websites I've known.)
I'm not going to argue the point, AOG - we have to agree to differ. I think it's good for all the members to know when Ed feels someone has transgressed. I'll leave it at that.
Absolutely Zhukov.

Although at school, we weren't exactly encouraged to think //if it wasn't for all the black soldiers, we'd all be speaking German now//

That is a disgusting racist remark to make, and is an insult to all the very brave non-black service personal, who fought and sometimes died in defence of the free-world.
<sigh>

If there's a wrong end of the stick to get hold of.........!
May i ask.... Is AOG always like this or is that a tad controversial question?

Admit it you wouldn't have me any different.
i wouldnt i love poking you when ive nowt better to do ;)
on the contrary, I'd prefer you as an anarcho-syndicalist activist.
kat, AOG is always AOG , which is to his credit.
AOG you are a grumpy old git, but you are OUR grumpy old git.
Don't change.
A serious humour loss seems to be inflicting AOG today; the Rasta regiment remark was just to inject a little light relief into this. I am well aware of the contribution of all (in italic) Commonwealth and others contributions, Zhukov. We did have some history teaching though, personally, my favourite period is Georgian followed by the 100 Years Wars.

I am sitting here laughing my "rear" off about the racist remark, given his remarks today and in the past and his support of the Ultra-Right. One question though, is AOG Enoch Powell reincarnated?
I will support Mrs O on that - AOG is unique and a lot more rational than those nuppities, the JWs, in his reasoning.
JtH, Kat, Red thanks ^^.

AOG, thank you too for your kind reminder. I'd completely forgotten that my Grandfather fought at Ypres and my Father at Tobruk and Alamain.

I believe they were personnel rather than //personal//, although of course personal to me.

Please, though, be very very careful about using the phrase
//That is a disgusting racist remark to make//
It's most unwelcome. Would you like to discuss it further?
