'Would they have got this banned'?

I could not see anything wrong with the question.

If someone had posted an offensive post, why wasn't just the offending post removed?

A 'removed thread' thread.........oh goodie!
The thread was offensive to begin with.....
The thread was posted to Muslim bash.
Question Author
Not allowed to criticise Muslims now eh?

What about,

/// Are the bigots in a dilemma? ///

Wasn't this a deliberate attempt at creating ill-feeling towards 'Right-Wingers'?

Or is this permissible by the 'Left'?
A wide spectrum of bigots.
The entire post was an excuse to Muslim *bash* and not criticise.

There is nothing in the original article singling out Muslims as being chippy about the prayer-issue.......but the entire thrust of the thread became slanted against Muslims.
Question Author
Or even direct taunts at fellow ABers

/// Will we read less from AOG? ///

Seems very strange what is allowed and what is not.
...bigots abound...try not to take it "too personal"Aog..it ain"t just you! ;-)
...I meant..."It ain"t just your "mob".."!
Bit late in the day to bring that up now AOG. Even the Ed seen it as it was...light hearted banter.
come now, aog, considering how much time you spend announcing that leftwingers are bigots too...

There's another thread on the 'banning' of prayers in R&S should you wish to have your say on this widely misunderstood event.
The slant of the thread was somewhat biased to begin with - the essential point being that a council would be too 'frightened' to ban prayers if it was Muslim prayers. This missed the entire point of the ruling, which was that prayers across the board were being dispensed with, and the notion that the council would be 'frightened' was a suposition which did lead to some inflamatory posts.

As for the remark about your good self AOG, I saw it in the sense of a gentle tease, but as we both know from direct personal experience, what is posted is not always what is received.
Question Author
All a gentle tease, when directed against me, but disgusting insults which demand an apology when I post.

There doesn't seem to be a level playing field here.

Look what Gromit's post started, yet Lord_Elpus thread was removed.

/// Anotheroldgit came up as - Sauerkraut - long shelf-life,sour/pungent aroma/taste..///

/// I tried to inject some humour into a serious question. Unfortunately only miserable funckers are awake at this time ///

/// Anyway, where is the cantankerous s*d, still thumbing through the Daily Mail? ///

Although quite a few of ABers who are not generally seen for their support of my views etc, could see the implications of this post and posted their objections to some of the offensive remarks.

Such a one was this:

/// Like many people on this site, I rarely agree with AOG, but unlike many people on this site and on this thread, I don't see AOG as fair game for ridicule, insults, sarcasm and little more than a punchbag. ///

/// Those that do indulge themselves in using AOG as a cyber punchbag were, I suspect, either bullies or bullied at school. ///

I wish to thank this ABer along with all those others who posted their indignations at this thread.

Strange though that the AB Editor who only a few days ago openly chastised me in front of other ABers, which at the time I thought was a little unprofessional, actually joined in this thread and instead of removing it or equally chastising Gromit, cast it off as one big joke.
It's not unprofessional to chastise anyone in front of others, IMO, if others can also learn from it.

Is LordElpus banned, or is it just that thread? If the latter, it's Ed whodunnit.

/// It's not unprofessional to chastise anyone in front of others, IMO, if others can also learn from it. ///

I beg to differ, obviously you have never been in a supervisory post.

It is total unprofessional to discipline an adult person in front of others.

We are not talking about bringing out a pupil in front of the class or assembly, or a recruit on the parade ground.
I beg to differ entirely (and you assume wrong), AOG - please take my remark in context - I certainly wouldn't chastise any member of my workplace team in front of the others (but they all know that if something was amiss with a colleague's work or they were behaving inappropriately, I would take the necessary action).

However, in a forum like this, Ed doesn't have the privilege of being able to take anyone into a side room - and unless Ed comes on here and tells us what action he's taken, people are left looking at iffy threads and wondering why people are getting away with it. Ed quite often posts reprimands and says so - it's one of the few ways he has of letting ABers know that he's keeping an eye on discipline. If that didn't come across in my post, then that's what I intended it to say.
IMO, AOG, if you express forthright views here in a very forceful way, wherever they are on the spectrum you're bound to get some fairly strong reactions.

Anyway, as it's AnswerBank not ShoutyBank, I'm pleased to see you've changed out of the wrong way up Union flag avatar into the new inclusive one.
<< In Rastafarian colours.
Yep, hand up, I've been told off in public by the Ed :-)
Just the thread removed.
That was a serious military regiment represented, humber....

The 1st Regiment of Jamaican Rastafarians.

Apparently they have gone to pot with the Government Cuts
