Hundreds of illegal immigrants are sleeping rough on our streets, Apparently as the men destryed their passports to avoid being returned to India (another stupid rule) the Indian Government wont let them back in.

Just what are our Government playing at. We dish out buckets of aid to india and are then stuck with a load of their illegals. Why cant we just lean on the Indian Government; take these people back or you dont get another penny, starting now, plus during the time we dont pay you wont ever see it so hurry up. I reckon that would wake them up and if it didnt then atr least we would have enough to keep the illegals in detention until it is sorted.

I don't think threatening to stop our aid payments would work, wasn't it only last week they said they no longer wanted our aid anyway??

I think that the issue is that it cannot be proved which nation they belong to when they haven't got a passport. This applies to all nationalities, as has been seen on the TV.
>>>the men destryed their passports to avoid being returned to India (another stupid rule)

What rule is a stupid rule?

If someone destroys their passport and refuses to say where they came from how can you return them "home" when you dont know what their home country is.
^^^^MOTLEY, try that one, it works!^^^^

;o)
Thanks baldric.
They almost certainly got here from across the channel. I suggest we use the only law of the EU that is actually useful to us and send the back to France. Then they can send them back to wherever and eventually the whole of the Eurozone will start to enforce it's own rules. It is perhaps ironic that we obey all the laws of the EU no matter how stupid yet the only one that that may actually help our case we don't, madness. Ok so we have straight cucumbers and bananas but no border control! Oh and stop foriegn aid completely, charity begins at home.
I'm with you d9
Me too.
If they have no documentation how would the UK authorities know where to send them? They may have come into the country ffrom Ireland, for example

I think what you really mean is Charity Stops at Home
You may be right zeuhl, but it surely has to stop somewhere?
then send them to Ireland Sandy I don't really care!
Only today the government announced their immigration plans are not working and in fact net immigration has risen over previous months. It was said the main route of immigration was via student visas which expire and they stay on. With new technology it is possible to check someones DNA and from it the country they originated from so the ones you mentioned can be repatriated.
rov1100, DNA is nowhere near accurate enought to determine which country someone comes from. It can identify them but not find which country they are from.
Once their passports have been destroyed there is no way to find which country they came from in the first place, you can't just send them back to a random country.
Perhaps they should be housed in an immigration camp until they come clean about how they got here ?
An immigration camp would cost £1000s per person per week and putting them in it would give some validity to their claim. Sleeping rough on the street at least costs the taxpayer nothing.
I don't see how it gives any validity. And of course the option of leaving them on the street gives no incentive to sort the issue. How do they make a living ? Begging ? Theft ? There's a social cost right there.
