Should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry, no matter what their sexual preferences may be?

/// a homosexual crook's mum wrote to inmate magazine Inside Time to get the go-ahead. ///

/// 'My son is currently held as a Category A prisoner and has expressed a wish to "marry" (in a civil ceremony) another male Category A prisoner who is in the same jail,' the concerned woman wrote. ///

I wonder where they will spend their honeymoon, in an 'Open Prison'?

However it is interesting to note that you feel sorry for those villains, rapists, murderers and other savages, that have to live in the harsh conditions of category 'A' prisons, while at the same time showing more concerned about the subjects that I post on.

AOG. At what point did I say I feel sorry for Category A prisoners? Please tell me. An answer would be appreciated.
Kromovaracun - I do think that if hetrosexual couples have this then so should homosexual couples as it has to be fair in that respect. But as I said, still very unsure it should actually be permitted either way.
What has "no matter what their sexual preferences may be' to do with the question, aog? It has nothing to do with your question; 'should Category A prisoners be allowed to marry?' Surely you don't think homosexuals should be denied the same rights as heterosexuals? Or do you? (The way you worded the question may make people you do think that). Homosexuals and heterosexuals may 'marry' in the outside world, after all.

Yes, they should, because the civil partnership brings legal consequences which correspond to those of the heterosexual marriage.

Legal rights, are fully laid out in 'Civil Partnerships', whether they take place in a house of worship, a register office, a stately home on board ship or on a beach in the tropics.

So what is this need to get 'Married' all about?

That's a different question.

You asked whether category A prisoners should be allowed to marry, not whether gay category A prisoners should be allowed to marry or be restricted to entering civil partnerships.
Lofty, Kromo and the ever-patient Jack - by my reckoning - are still waiting for answers from the OP. Any chance of enlightenment?

From what you read straight prisoners always have to watch their behinds as some sex starved prisoners will rape the first orifice they come across. Some of them are not homosexual but lust overcomes dignity.

That is why homosexual marriages are wrong. The relationship are built on lust or sex and not a family union. Let them get their ends away but don't involve the church in their fornifications.
Balanced answer, as per, rov......

Please don't let any facts get in the way of your prejudices....
rov I don't agree with same sex marriages, but I consider your comments way out of order.

As an ex con, that is a load of ********
Ive never once come across the 'shower' scenerio so beloved of the media and comedians.
Most cons (myself included) make do with the right hand and a good deal of imagination.
if this prisoner was allowed to marry his partner he would in fact be worse off.
If a pair of same sex prisoners are ' 'In a relationship'' and are in the same prison, as long as they are discrete they can hope for the
occasional ''contact'' but the second the prison officers get wind of it they will be seperated . Getting married would simply ensure that they were never allowed to meet.

<tempering my response>

The church is getting itself involved. Remember - what is being proposed is civil weddings for gays and lesbians.

Actually, I've just re-read your post. You're being tongue-in-cheek, aren't you?

This is why we need italics as an option on AB, so we can tell when people are giving us a verbal wink...otherwise people will read your post and assume you're a complete dick, as opposed to witty.
will the ky come on prescription
Why should any convicted criminal be allowed to marry before having served their time? Just another way for some to avoid deportation citing their humam rights.
I may have hit a raw nerve with you SP1814 and your previous posts about homosexuals show which side of the fence you are sitting on.
Hang on - you WEREN'T being tongue-in-cheek????

Blimey.

Okay...back to your post then. I don't know what kind of material you've been 'reading', but I'd suggest the whole gay sex thing is more in your mind than in these fictional showers.

To be serious for a moment, don't you think that gay partnerships are also built on love?
