Should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry, no matter what their sexual preferences may be?
/// a homosexual crook's mum wrote to inmate magazine Inside Time to get the go-ahead. ///
/// 'My son is currently held as a Category A prisoner and has expressed a wish to "marry" (in a civil ceremony) another male Category A prisoner who is in the same jail,' the concerned woman wrote. ///
I wonder where they will spend their honeymoon, in an 'Open Prison'?

A lot of these people are products of their upbringing. There but for the grace of god, etc. I am not sorry for them, I do not condone their crimes, some of which are horrific, but as a human being I find it difficult to understand how some people can be so vindictive and want to add to their punishments by treating them badly whilst they are in prison (unless of course they have the same traits as the prisoners!).
Some people are unable to believe anything thats said to them...take rape in prisons:

/// AOG. At what point did I say I feel sorry for Category A prisoners? Please tell me. An answer would be appreciated. ///
/// Being locked up in a Cat A prison is punishment in itself. Should we rely deny people any human compassion when they are being punished for a crime. ///
Did they show anyone 'human compassion' when they raped and murdered?
Seems like you feel sorry for them, or you would be condemning them, they should loose all the rights that law abiding citizens enjoy.

AOG - I beleive that sympathy and compassion are different and quite separate emotions.
I am with Lottie on this - I would not for one moment sympathise with any violent prisoner. I would though not take an absence of condemnation as tacit sympathy by anyone.
As Lottie states, the imprisonment is the designated punishment, the law does not allow for any additional punishments to be piled on, based on the emotive reactions of the general public - that would lead to anarchy.

/// What has "no matter what their sexual preferences may be' to do with the question, aog? It has nothing to do with your question; 'should Category A prisoners be allowed to marry?' Surely you don't think homosexuals should be denied the same rights as heterosexuals? Or do you? (The way you worded the question may make people you do think that). ///
Oh dear it is such hard work to make some understand the simplest fundamental issues, or is it just a matter of you trying to read something into my question that doesn't exist, simply so that you can pin an 'homophobic' label on me?
Let me explain, the Daily Mail report was regarding letting homosexual marry in category 'A' prisons.
With it so far?
Based on this report, I simply questioned, 'Should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry, no matter what their sexual preferences may be'?
Notice the last few words "no matter what their sexual preferences may be"
I added this so that no one could say "Surely you don't think homosexuals should be denied the same rights as heterosexuals"?
Just goes to prove how wrong I was.
To all those that decided to start a homosexual argument, I simply say "Forget their sexual preferences, should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry"?
It's not really that hard is it?

you constantly complain that people attack you for your views, wheras in fact it is your expression of them that is the issue.
Look at whom you have fallen out with on here - Lottie, Zeul, jack, me - and others who don't spring to mind.
I post far more than you ojn a daily basis, and for a lot longer, and I have only ever fallen out with you and one other poster who was eventually banned.
Do you ever think that the failure to make your point accurately may just be down to your way of expressing it - allowing for the pitfalls of written communication which i have banged on to you abaout on many occasions?
If people fail to understand a point I make, I take the responsibility and re-phrase, I do not simultaniously belittle them in my response, and accuse of them of preparing to attack me - which they don't.
Do you see a pattern here?

/// What I probably mean is normal behaviour towards a human being, rather than being vindictive or intentionally making them suffer more. ///
We are not talking about sending them to Tyburn here, or applying the 'Thumb Screws', stretching them on the rack, or giving them bread and water.
Depriving them of becoming married while serving out their sentence is not in the most of vivid imaginations, making them suffer more.
But then we have all heard of these loopy women who take up a pen-pal relationship with these monsters and then request to marry them.
