Should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry, no matter what their sexual preferences may be?
/// a homosexual crook's mum wrote to inmate magazine Inside Time to get the go-ahead. ///
/// 'My son is currently held as a Category A prisoner and has expressed a wish to "marry" (in a civil ceremony) another male Category A prisoner who is in the same jail,' the concerned woman wrote. ///
I wonder where they will spend their honeymoon, in an 'Open Prison'?

Since you headlined your post "Gay Prisoners to be Allowed to Marry" but meant "Category A Prisoners to be Allowed to Marry", I dare say that some on here think that you were as concerned about the sexuality as you were the category of the prisoners.
Out of interest, why did you choose those words in that headline, rather than those of the simple question you were asking ? Were you simply following the Daily Mail, who, no doubt, meant to say "Category A prisoners to be allowed to 'marry' " but chose other words ?>

"Depriving them of becoming married while serving out their sentence is not in the most of vivid imaginations, making them suffer more."
Really, is that so? If you read through the thread you will see some really good reasons that marriage could be important to these people. Nothing to do with love or emotions, but to do with legalities and finance and putting their lives in order. If I was deprived of making a will or allowing my wishes as to what was to happen to my estate when I peg it I would feel unjustly deprived.
Read what sp has to say about this. He made me think.
Thank you Andy. I am glad you agree with me about compassion. AOG obviously can't understand why feeling compassion equates with sympathy and condoning their actions.

Old Git's posts are wonders of ambiguity and deceit at the best of times
I still can't tell if it's because he is practising to be a headline writer for the gutter press or because he can't write very well.
<<Should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry, no matter what their sexual preferences may be?>>
is a classic.
is it - should any Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry; straight or gay?
or is it - should Category 'A' prisoners be allowed to marry, even if they are gay?

/// the imprisonment is the designated punishment, the law does not allow for any additional punishments to be piled on, based on the emotive reactions of the general public - that would lead to anarchy. ///
What additional punishments are you referring to?
/// imprisonment is the designated punishment, ///
Depriving them of their liberty is only part of their punishment, they then have to conform to the rules and regulations that come from being incarnated in HM Prison.
Perhaps being locked up is enough, perhaps we should let them invite their wives, partners or girlfriends into the prison for perhaps a dinner and dance on a Saturday night, even 'Bridge' parties on a Tuesday and Thursday?
All helps to pass those long torturous days and nights of incarceration behind bars, surely imprisonment is punishment enough it seems.

AOG - "What additional punishments are you referring to?" - i am sure you know the sentiments as well as I, they crop up on here often enough when the self-righteous brothers get cracking -
Leave me in a room with him a a baseball bat / they should have metal bits attached to their genitalia and plugged into the mains / they sould be starved and beated on a daily basis, and so on ad nauseum.
The rules and regulations are little to do with the punishment, they are simply there to ensure a secure and safe environment for everyone involved - the sort of regime that applies to any large group of people confined together - including ships at sea, barracks, etc.

I am unsure of the connection to the debate of that statement, or its relavence - care to elaborate further?

I do not need you or anyone else for that matter, to lecture me on how to answer the systematic insulting and criticising posts that I receive.
/// Look at whom you have fallen out with on here - Lottie, Zeul, jack, me - and others who don't spring to mind. ///
I am not here to gain a popularity vote at the expense of me keeping on good terms with these posters.
You may like to keep on 'good terms' be 'one of the gang' 'follow the sheep' etc, etc. but that is not for me, and also those you have mentioned have in the past given me good reason to retaliate in the way I do.
Perhaps you would care to read their aggressive posts towards me, before you try and start to chastise me.
In closing perhaps you should now spend some of your time, pointing out to others, how the words they are using can be misinterpreted, or they are not getting things over correctly, or any other criticisms you can manage to make to them?
Perhaps then you may be able to add others to your list of two that you have fallen out with?
