What are we doing wrong?
42 Answers
France's Sarkozy kicked out two radical extremists within hours of an expulsion order, but Britain although getting permission to get rid of hate preacher Abu Hamza and others, they still have three months to appeal, all at the taxpayers expense.
And now we hear that only 40% of the foreign criminals who have been released from jail since 2006 have been removed from the UK, and at least 50 have disappeared completely.

what we are doing wrong is letting others dictate what we can and cannot do. If like the French who seem to have no problem at all getting rid of their undesirables , we should take these people to the airport, no publicity, and hand them over the Americans, job done Once it is known that they are out of British hands, and on American soil, perhaps the rest of the scum...

They invoked emergency powers after the recent terrorist attack there.
We did the same after 7/7 and deported several people.
The recent cases are complicated because the undesirables are going to places where torture and capital punishment are rife, and as a civilised country, we shirk from sending people to that fate.

If these extremists are residents of the country we wish to return them why should we get on our high horse and tell that country how to behave. They are citizens of that country and they should tackle them in their own way.
What may seem barbaric in the way they treat their own citizens was fully understood by these terrorists before they embarked on a reign of terror and should take the consequences.

Firstly kicking out these people seems pretty stupid.
What do you think happens when they're kicked out? -do you think they vanish in a puff of smoke and are no longer a threat to anybody?
While they're here people like MI5 have the chance to track their movements and who and what they're doing.
Perhaps you'd rather they just vanish into the Middle East somewhere to get up to God alone knows what!
Seems very short sighted thinking to me - still what does it matter if it sells newspapers eh?

/// If you can't see something it can't hurt you? ///
Must agree with you on that point.
I can't see that particular venomous spider crawling down that tree in far away Australia.
So knowing that, I am absolutely sure that, that particular spider providing it stays where it is, cannot possibly hurt me at all.

Let me get that one straight...
the capabilities and potential for doing harm in an islamic terrorist are equivalent to a small, poisonous arachnid that lives in a tree
That's all right then - perhaps we should replace MI5 with some old ladies equipped with cans of Rid
Nonetheless, I'm hoping our security people are operating at a slightly higher level of intellect and insight than that.

2007 January - February: The 2007 United Kingdom letter bombs
2007 30 June: 2007 Glasgow International Airport attack perpetrated by Islamist extremists.
2008 22 May: 22 May 2008 Exeter bombing by an Islamist extremist, injuring only the perpetrator.
Might as well relax then since it seems that nothing has taken place since 2008, so can you now tell us jake, that there will be no more further terrorist's actions taking place in the future?
If you can then I will begin to get the your point.
