Once more it seems that increasingly overused word still carries weight in some quarters.

One could equally ask if the victim had been a white man, what would be the chances of his family carrying enough persuasion, to get the police to re-open the case?

Probably not intentionally, but that's the fundamental problem, really.
People of low intelligence tend to be unconsciously racist, and the police force tends to attract people of low intelligence, because it's one of the highest paid jobs that a thicko can aspire to. That's not to imply that all police officers are thick, just that they tend to be in the majority.

That is just their opinion and we will never know why the original police investigation was so poor. Their could be many reasons for the police failing to properly investigate the case. It could have been racism, or it could have been another reason.

The most sensible action for the police to have taken would have been to interview the witness.
"Can you describe the screams? Was the person coherent? Was he screaming 'No...no...stop?' or was it a scream of pain?"
Based on the answers to the interview, the police could then have a better understanding of whether there were suspicious circumstances to follow up on.
As to whether inaction was down to racism - who knows? Had the victim been white and someone had reported two black teenagers acting suspicously in the area that the body had been found the police may have treated the case differently, or they may not.
It's impossible to tell without a crystal ball (or a Tardis).

Yes it seems very strange why the witnesses were not interviewed, but I find it couldn't possibly be because the victim happened to be black.
In their own interests when a suspicious death is discovered, they generally will be most thorough in their investigations (regardless of colour), so as to find a reason for the death, but like in all other occupations mistakes can be made.

Re: your post of 11:09. Quite. It seems that the original investigation was subject to 'a degree of bungling'.
This may have been down to a lack of manpower, miscommunication, forensic errors or indeed a prejudgment on causality based on race (ie. UNintentiional racism).
The family have nothing to go on, and are desperate for answers. By accusing the Met of racism (a hot button topic since Stephen Lawrence), this process *might* just end up with the conviction of a couple of murderers.
Alternatively, it may conclusively be shown that Mr Griffith *did* take his own life.

Not sure why you thin Rojash is abusive. A bit to the point maybe, have to spoken to many Plod? They are either knuckle draggers in a helment or some liberal college kid with no clue. The result? A right disaster.

Nothing disgusting or deliberately offensive about it AOG. Just stating a plain fact. You can get into the Police with exactly the same qualifications as are required to server hamburgers in McDonald's. And I did add "That's not to imply that all police officers are thick".
