Once more it seems that increasingly overused word still carries weight in some quarters.

One could equally ask if the victim had been a white man, what would be the chances of his family carrying enough persuasion, to get the police to re-open the case?

Your theory that <<the ED>> actually refers to the Ed makes perfect sense.
I thought at one stage he had unilaterally further abbreviated the EDL.
Sadly, Old Git has shown himself to be either too oblivious, too rude or too confused to explain his lack of clarity.
So thanks again and keep watching the Poirots or whatever it is - they must be good for 'the little grey cells'

Sorry, rojash, but you are incorrect and, in my view, out of order. You make a number of sweeping generalisations, none of which stand up to scrutiny. Firstly, it is grossly unfair to suggest that people of low intelligence “tend to be unconsciously racist”. What makes you think that? Where’s the evidence to support that contention? True, a number of people who are “unconsciously racist” (and I’m not quite sure, but I think I know what you mean) may be of lower intelligence. But although all peas are green, not everything that’s green is a pea, so you cannot make that assumption.
I don’t know how many police officers you know. I know a number personally and come into contact with many more in connection with some of the work I do. Of course their level of intellect varies, as you might expect in any organisation with so many employees. But to suggest that there is a tendency for the majority of them to be thick is grossly misleading. The job of police officer is demanding. They have a huge amount of law to absorb to enable them to do their job. Anybody whom you might consider “thick” would be very unlikely to pass the entry requirements and even if he or she did, they would be unlikely to survive long in the job.
I think you should reconsider.

If the IQ test is a measure of intelligence. If Rojash’s definition of “thick” means those with a low IQ. If the causal relationship is “thick = racist”.

Perhaps the position could be clarified thus: not all thick people are racists, but most racists are thick.
I suspect the majority of people have racial prejudices built up over time, but only the truly thick amongst us will let our prejudices govern the way we interact with people of different racial backgrounds.

A few people on this site issue out the word "RACIST" when they have no idea what a true racist is.
They are keen to spew out this overworked word, in their quest to stifle free speech, so much so that the word is fast becoming diluted.
It is fast losing it's true definition, so much so that some are now adding words such as 'thick' etc to somehow re-strengthen the word 'Racist', all in the hope that the more outspoken will shy away from discussing certain sensitive issues, in case they are labelled not only a racist but also thick.
One would have to be thick themselves if they think that others cannot see through their little game.
