Morning,

I'm hoping to have a way for us to "quote" one another today.

Questions:

1. How would you like the quotes to look? Italics? Bold? A different colour? All suggestions will be considered.

2. How would you like to implement it? We need a trigger to tell the system "this is a quote". This trigger will be typed before and after the quote so the system to knows where to begin and end. Some options:

{quote}message to be "quoted"{quote}
[Q]message to be "quoted"[Q]
*message to be "quoted"*

It is possible we could put some pretty quote marks around the quote. Who would be in favour of this?

Maybe like this:

quote[]♫Blue,blue,my world is blue...♫quote[]

How does one make the music icon?
I will try that again.

[i]♫Blue,blue,my world is blue...♫[i]
[i]♫Blue,blue,my world is blue...♫[i]

The ♫ and ♪ is typed by holding down ALT and then typing either 13 or 14 on the number pad.
Help, what am I doing wrong?
Blue,blue,my world is blue

Hold ALT and type 14. ♫
it seems the italics fail if there is a special symbol inside the tag.

The AnswerBank doesn't kowtow to anyone else's "standards"!

Thank you for that Chuck, who would have possibly guessed that?

I think I will have a play around by holding down the Alt key and then pressing random keys.

Still can't understand why the piece didn't turn into italics though.

Still can't understand why the piece didn't turn into italics though.

It's because those special characters are not accounted for, and break the code.
I always use # it's distinctive and simple to use and right next to the enter key #
Oanother forum I use, you highlight the text, click the quote button then when you start your reply it sorts it all out for you.
I've not read the other posts so apols if this duplicates what others have said.
Does this work, I wonder?
