I see very little difference between this and the husband of a patient in a persistant vegetative state who insisted it was his right to have sex with her. It goes against social taboos and probably a few health ones too but revolting as it sounds it doesn't actually cause harm to anyone...
It's like a lot of taboos... they arose out of a need to protect the population from disease or other dangers It's not like killing someone to have sex with their corpse which would cause actual harm....
OK devils advocate hat off now back to thinking nooooo yucky

I agree, rowan.
It's a taboo thing.
Ignore the taboo element, and look at it from a new angle.
Person A wants to make love to his wife's body
Person B wants to put it in a box and set fire to it
Person C wants to bury is so that it rots and gets eaten
If you were a primitive tribe, starting from scratch, with no preconceived ideas of what was acceptable, which would be the more disrespectful?

I honestly think we need to wait a week or so for fullfact.org or dailymailwatch.com to analyze this story, because it seems...bonkers (no pun intended).
There may be a grain of truth in it, but I just scanned the story and thought, "This is hokum".
If in a week's time the story hasn't been trashed, then I will wholeheartedly agree with you...but right now...it sounds a bit...you know...

Yes all right, yet another spell-checker mistake, should have been 'deplorable'.
But don't go away before you explain to me who are you referring to by your use of the word 'HER'?
I am waiting.
