/// "Converts who become extremists or terrorists are, of course, a legitimate story," said Mr Mughal. "But my worry is that the saturation of such stories risks equating all Muslim converts with being some sort of problem when the vast majority are not". ///

What is Fiyaz Mughal, director of Faith Matters actually suggesting that all such stories should be somehow less saturated in some way?

How does he suggest that this can be done?

^ wot sandy and gromit said..
Gromit, i did say many not all. I pick out Islam now because they are the ones most in the news in recent times.
Sandy, that’s a ridiculous analogy.

jno, // I don't know why you think it's worthy of note only when Muslims do it.//

Possibly because it is not confined to a specific area, but is affecting the whole world.

Gromit, doesn’t change the fact that you didn’t include those countries in your observations.
Sandryroe
then they bleat on when no one helps them, to supply them with weapons, or military, diplomatic help, then some bleat on when we do help, as interfering westerners, some time getting caught in the middle of warring factions. We should stay out.
To leaders of Islam. If you want true converts to Islam, sort it out so that it be well & truly known that the Prophet (pbu) advocated peace, love & goodwill. Isolate all the rubbish from the religion who are giving Islam a bad name. Let it be known that those who advocate evil are & will be barred from the faith & there will be no room in Heaven for any of them. It is now high time that you made a stand. Say it on radio & tv & in newspapers & in all other means of communication.

Ron.
That's not so very long ago. Within my lifetime.
They overthrow democracy, support the Shah and all his apparatus of torture, and then are surprised when someone like the Ayatollah Khomeini sweeps the country back half a millennium.
what is in your lifetime, unlikely WW1. WW2 perhaps, don't know, not a good analogy all the same.
it's still happening, that's the point, they supplant one dictator for another.
EM10, the Iranian coup détat in 1953.
... and, as Ron says, often worse than before.
^^Sorry, Sandy said that - not Ron.
Catholics and Protestants regularly blew each other up over a period of forty years.

Some of them even tried to murder our prime minister - however, at no point did Christianity get the blame for this evil.

Why not?
Whilst the two opposing factions were of different religions (albeit under the same banner), fundamentally it was a political issue. They didn’t threaten to murder people in completely unrelated countries for ‘insulting’ their religion, or for drawing cartoons. There is no comparison.
you know they are Catholics and Protestants, so you assume it's over religion, but it was also about history, the long and bitter one between
both faiths, all intertwined with complex age old disputes, which they still haven't resolved. Another bomb found earlier today by the way.
and many of the murdering bstards are now in power, how is that for turning things around.
so not just about Islam

what might have be gained had this gone up.

Gromit

/// I don't think our hands are entirely clean when it comes to meddling in other countries, which may be why they tend to distrust us. ///

Here once again we have yet another anti-British/anti West post from Gromit, who wishes to blame us for all the Islamic misdemeanour's all over the globe.

Others have chosen once again to roll out their history books in the vague attempt to compare today's Islamic problem with the Irish problem and also WW1 and WW2.

Well if we must go back into history, didn't Islam invade and conquer almost the whole of the Iberian peninsula in their sweep across the entire Mediterranean area, during the Middle Ages?
*If it's so peace loving why do they do this, kill innocents, men, women, and children, kidnap and mutilate infidels, that's people like you and me, or indeed anyone who doesn't toe the line*

isnt the good old us of a guilty of behaviour like that too? oh dear did i blame an entire people for the actions of some? i do believe if you google you will find pics of american soldiers gleefully showing people they had beaten up and plenty of news stories about the things you mentioned

Yes I do agree that there are pictures of a minority American soldiers gleefully showing people they had beaten up, and even killed.

But for every one of those there are countless other photos showing Muslim fanatic's atrocities which are much, much more horrific.
americans have their fair share of the horrific too..... not too long ago the american soldier who sneaked around a village killing innocent people while they slept including women and children.... then didnt he set the bodies on fire? there were lots of reports i saw that he raped some of them..... is that not also horrific?

and dont think im not condoning anything aog just pointing out that you cant blame the whole for the actions of a few... thats something that a lot of users on here seem to forget...
