Can anyone who reads these figures not agree that enough is enough and we can not go on accepting more and more immigrants into this country?

This mass immigration was introduced by the Labour Government and since we have heard sound bite after sound bite from our coalition government that measures are to be introduced to curb the situation, but still nothing seems to be done.

Could it be that there is a certain ulterior motive in operation that we know nothing about, or are the Tories hands tied over this by it's Liberal Democrat partners?

I dont think we a re past the point of no return, however we will need to act quick.

Typical rubbish with numbers made to look big for those who are bad at maths

5,000 people per square km?
so 200 square meters each eh?

Bet they've excluded Scotland from that calculation!

Talking about the population density of a country is simple nonsense

I don't care what the population density is on the other side of the country - it doesn't effect me.

Go for a walk in Lincolnsihire!

It's not an issue of numbers it's an issue of the South East becoming over populated
It's been obvious for decades that overpopulation is a problem for the world as a whole, and for many countries individually. Within one's own borders each should ensure their population does not grew beyond what the country is able to support. Which often means deterring folk in the country from having many offspring and ensuring no net immigration. But I'm not holding my breath. The human race will probably wait for a natural (or otherwise) disaster to sort things out. New figures will change no one's mind.
Open spaces, even if they hold no value to anyone, is hardly a measure of what a country can cope with.
The damage to this country has been well and truly done, nothing will make any difference now
Enoch Powell was Labour?

A typical "I'm all right Jack, so long as it is not in my backyard" answer.

Regardless of the location, do you not agree that there is a problem, and if so what can be done about it?

Part of the problem is how to fund our ageing poulation, New Labour were hoping to fix this by brining in people who would pay. Problem is the people they let in were by and large feckless by British standards either grabbing benfits or brreding heavily thus through our infrastruture like schools into turmoil. For the UK we must stop this and allow the people we have let in to integrate (no multi cultures here please). That way we all get the best of both worlds. It will even out as it is quite obviousl from past experiences that each generation of an immigrant familly to become more 'British' (and I use h ternm loosl beofre all the pedantic nutters on here start)
As for population of the world we do need to address this. A big problem are these grops that interfere with Nature and go feeding people who then keep breeding and compunding the problem. Yes, help people but they must agree to no more breeding if helped. 7Bn is just too much.
"This mass immigration was introduced by the Labour Government"
Was it? What evidence do you have for that claim?
Headline: "Population up 10% in 15 years"
Article:"most crowded parts of Britain have soared by 10 per cent since 1997"

So the population hasn't actually increased by 10% - so, as usual, the DM leads with a totally misleading headline.
I am not racist rojash but it does appear from day to day observation that a considerable influx took place during Labour's watch. This would not have had a detrimental result if a higher proportion of the immigrants brought the skills we need.

Notice that the most prosperous parts have the biggest increases cited. But, I say! Kensington and Chelsea is the most "jam-packed" in London, up 16.9 per cent. Must be all those damn foreign immigrants, with their million + pound houses, breeding like rabbits, I suppose.
Unfortunately the idea that a nation needs an ever increasing population (be it home grown or via immigration) to support an ageing population is very popular – and totally ridiculous.

Strangely, the younger people eventually get old so they, too, need support in their dotage. Where do they get that from (under the current model)? Correct – an ever increasing population of younger people who, er.. eventually get old. Where do they get their support from? I think you get my drift.

The UK’s resources are already under enormous stress. And it’s no use saying there is plenty of space in the middle of Lincolnshire. There are no houses or facilities there, nor are there likely to be in the foreseeable future. To pursue policies that depend upon ever increasing numbers of people is a betrayal of the first order and one way that such a betrayal can be addressed is to restrict immigration drastically.

Of course jake will say that many companies cannot survive without skilled immigrants. Firstly, it's not just skilled immigrants that have contributed to rising numbers. A lot of unskilled and unemployable ones have arrived as well (during the time when unemployment stood at around 5 million). But in any case the so-called "skill shortage" is also the fault of successive governments too for not providing decent enough education so that skilled vacancies can be filled from within.
One ought not require an ever increasing population of younger people. If the system can not be made to work with a stable number of working folk covering the costs then it is already doomed.
Sorry AOG, but that graph is not evidence that mass immigration was introduced by a Labour government.
not sure it covers the points?

note not from the Daily Mail, and it's in today's Independent
No wonder the Tories are kicking out low lifes and immigrants from rich London boroughs and passing them to Labour districts on the pretext of rents. At least if Westminster and Chelsea are getting overcrowded they can at least share it with their own set.
there are simply too many people in Britain for the amount of money, resources we have, time that there was a total clamp down, at least until they can assess a truthful figure of how many people are here, and act accordingly, a census was taken but that doesn't necessarily mean a total head count.
