Now there is an issue about burial if it is old Humpy.....he dies a Catholic and should be given a Catholic service - will the Her Maj allow her own church (Westminster Abbey) be used for this. If so, they could give him a State funeral (inc the full gun salute for a monarch), thereby have the practice they have been seeking for Her Nibs and then allow the Thatches to gracefully opt out of a State Funeral - there is precedence on the latter as both Florence Nightingale and Benjamin Disraeli were offered a State funeral and their families declined it.

they would have to be absolutely certain that it is him, and it might also put to rest the idea that he was a hunchback, which seems more a Shakespearean idea than reality.

em10, Shakespeare wasn't the only person who said he was a hunchback and the skeletal remains found showed signs of scoliosis, which if severe would have given him the appearance of a hunchback.

But Westminster Abbey is not a catholic church
It should be in Westminster Cathedral - and while we are at it lets have some more of our Kings and Queens back - in particular Mary Queen of Scots and Mary 1

after more than 500 hundred it's going to be hard to prove it's him, seeing as how there are many conflicting tales of what happened after he was killed at Bosworth field, some say he was hacked up and thrown in the river, others that he was hacked up then buried.

Oh good grief! This gets worse! Why? Was he religious? He should of course be interred with dignity in a place befitting his historical status, but for goodness sake, how on earth can anyone ‘feel’ they know what he would have wanted?

I thought he appeared to be hunched because his muscles in his shoulders were enlarged due to his love of using the longbow. Just a theory I suppose, no-one will ever know.

Naomi, no one can, not until he is clearly identified, and i really find it difficult to believe it is him, and that the archaeologists, historians can prove it without a shadow of a doubt. If it is him, then suggest he gets a decent burial.

Regardless of his faith, history and standing as a former monarch of the realm it's only right he is laid to rest with the others as a matter of protocol if nothing else, IMHO.
