ric.ror, as you probably know, I consider all churches to be a waste of space and IMO, the Catholic faith one that is particularly invidious owing to its secrecy and suppression of poor people around the world, while it went and goes about happily plating the Vatican in gold, pomposity and even more falseness.

I think (although not 100% certain) that a Catholic burial can still take place in an Anglican church. And in keeping with archaeological practice, the remains will be re-interred in the closest consecrated ground - in this case, Leicester Cathedral. For those not familiar with it, whilst it's not as grand as Westminster or York, it is a *little* bigger than the average parish church.

Yes, it will be a big tourist pull for us in Leicester and will hopefully highlight our others. We have plenty, but none this big, of course.

Richard III was born in Northamptonshire, died at the battle of Bosworth (Market Bosworth, Leics) his body was brought back into the city of Leicester and buried at the Greyfriars Church which is now the council car park where he was found.

Yes Saxy - it will be a real tourist attraction here in Leicestershire, they have announced that an exhibition hall will be built ...... can't wait!

Ann, the council has bought the old school building next to where the remains were found (and across the road from the cathedral). I believe they are planning to use that.
