The people in Canada can trace direct descendance from R III - which the Mitochondrial DNA confirms

From what they said earlier, they took samples from three lines, all of which were rigorously checked for authenticity.

As for multiple descendants, I know that I am very distantly related to a family who can trace their own lineage from (if I recall correctly) Edward IV. But then I read that many people can say the same because he wasn't exactly mean with his 'wild oats'. I don't think I'll be getting measured for the coronation robes just yet.

Only thing is, it clashes with Outnumbered/Mrs Brown's Boys on BBC1 and with Dancing on the Edge on BBC2! Still gonna watch it, though. I used to work at Greyfriars and used that car park, and my bloke knows some of the team that worked on the dig, so I sort of have a vested interest.

A skeleton found beneath a Leicester car park has been confirmed as that of English king Richard III.

Experts from the University of Leicester said DNA from the bones matched that of descendants of the monarch's family.

Lead archaeologist Richard Buckley, from the University of Leicester, told a press conference to applause: "Beyond reasonable doubt it's Richard."

Richard, killed in battle in 1485, will be reinterred in Leicester Cathedral.

I totally agree with nox's first statement I find it rather ignominious for a hero king to found under a carpark in Leicester. Let us rebury him next to his wife in Westminter Abbey
