I recently asked if faith schools were divisive.

On the news today the government were saying there's not enough PE
in the schools and the BBC showed a sports hall ..
There dominating a whole wall was a large crucifix flanked by two equally large crosses.

I've just seen a similar scene in another school with nothing on the wall.

Now I wonder which was the faith school. ?

It's an incentive scheme. If they don't exercise hard enough the get nailed up next to the other guy.

do they have to climb them, if so it's brainwashing.
I don't understand your question.
Our school hall doubled as the gym , a large crucifix and statue of the Virgin Mary - funnily enough never stopped us doing PE.

You have missed the point . Surprise surprise ! Faith schools peddle their doctrine through every means possible. Q
Must have missed that, clever of them.
I can't see what your problem is. If you don't want your kids to be taught a particular religion, don't send them to a faith school!
Faith schools promoting their faith - shock, horror! How dare they 'advertise' themselves as faith schools, put it in their prospectus, on their websites, etc and then teach that faith.

Because subjecting young children to religion (before they're old enough to question it properly) is CHILD ABUSE, Lynda.

cont : Two RC PE teachers I knew would throw in remarks like :
" Let us use the muscles thatthe Lord God gave you ."
" Come on lads score a goal for Jesus. "
Where are their priorities , education or brain washing.

I asked one of them that question and she said the spirit is more important
than the body.
It's not child abuse, it's parental choice (parents make all sort of choices for their children - from where they live, to what they eat). I'm not into religion but it is up to others how they see fit to raise their children and I don't think going to a faith school ever killed anyone.
Must be why I am such a narrow minded and warped individual then, with no free thought.

I would have more upset as a child if the poor caretaker had been made to climb and remove the said articles every time there was a PE lesson, plus Mary was a great target for a beanbag. :-)
Well said Sherr, I think it is awful to accuse my wonderful parents and indeed my late husband and myself as child abusers.

mam # Must have missed that, clever of them. #
Yes very clever ! They got you !
i went to a CofE school, the only bit i didn't care for was having to go to church in the week, boring... mind you the curate was a dish.
You know that do you, have met me and judged my ways....no - you are guessing, I do not live in fear or awe as a result of my upbringing nor do my children.

I am a broad-minded individual with a sense of humour and am able to tolerate all types of people (those with faith and those without) unlike it seems some who see conspiracy at every step.
Question Author
mam ; It's years since I went into a RC school do they still have the
Virgin Mary in all the classrooms ? Do they still start the lessons with a prayer ?
No and no.
you are "brainwashed" from the minute you are born till the minute you die, whither you go to a faith school or not
A prayer at the start of day but not at start of all lessons.
Child abuse my backside, I never in my life read such a load of old rubbish!
