Yes but they're not just dressed up as princesses though. I'm all for kids dressing up, but this takes it to another level. Remember the Mini Pops on Channel 4 years ago?
I veer towards 'creepy', because this isn't something that was dreamt up by the kids involved. Children of that age wouldn't be interested in the Oscars.
This is something that adults have devised. That's why I think it's...wrong.
Also, am I imagining it, or have they shoved a cushion up the kiddie Adele's dress to make her look fatter???
That's what I just said. Dressing up as a princess is one thing (and perfectly normal) but these kids are dressed as adults - which is what makes it all a bit bizarre. I still don't think it's creepy though. Just odd and inappropriate.
The adult dresses are designed specifically to show off and enhance the adult female figure, to see the same, or very similar, cut and style on prepubescent girls is odd to say the least.
No, don't know what mini pops are Karen.... And I think they are just dressed up as (modern day) princesses. This is what I mean about putting our own thoughts to it. I honestly can see what everyone here is saying, and I don't disagree at all. I'm just not sure I agree either.
I despise the term "inappropriate", it represents all I hate about the nanny state, "parenting" and paedophile-hysteria. I do however love the way Top Gear use the term "inappropriately touched" to describe the way one presenter deliberately damaged something on another one's car !
MiniPops was a series made at the start of channel 4 where kids kind of imitated Top of the Pops. They dressed up as popular artists and sang their songs. They were usually plastered in make up and behaved much as the original artist. It was cancelled after a bit of an outcry. And it was creepy.
There is a boy in those pictures too.
I worry for the state of things where kids playing dress-up is suddenly out of bounds.
Seriously folks, these are not salacious in any way and if you think they are...?
You know, this also reminds me of my thoughts on the sudden surge in allergies in kids. It's a similar thing.
Kids are not allowed to be free in case a bad man is hiding round the corner (unlikely) and they are not allowed to get ill and build an immune system.
I would be interested to see if the rise in peanut allergies is directly related to the late 80s early 90s advice that you shouldn't give peanuts to under fives. It was considered a choking risk.
Similarly, I feel it's no wonder that kids are open to every kind of infection when we anti-bac the living doodahs out of everything and don't allow their immune systems to develop.
Relax. It's just a bit of fun.
