Not sure I find it odd, or creepy or inappropriate, or any other word bandied about here. None of the kids are showing anything that most parents wouldn't be happy them showing, it's just in this case its miles of taffeta (for example) rather than shorts and a tshirt.
Bet the kids had a blast putting it all on too, after all, it really is just a glorified version of princess dressing up, the only one who might have complained is the little lad, lol.
What I am puzzled about is why its even got news space, is it really THAT interesting? Who honestly cares?

I think that Answerprancer hot the nail on the head when he used the phrase "paedophile-hysteria"
I just see a bunch of kids being dressed as adults and this would've been really funny had they've came out alongside the celebrity they were emulating.
Maybe the problem lies within those that find this "Creepy" and what has triggered you to perceive something innocent as "creepy"

Let kids be kids and judge things on their merit and take them for what they are and stop jumping on this absurd bandwagon.

If you went round to a mate's house and their kid wandered downstairs dressed up in mum's clothes with oversized shoes and badly applied make up: cute.
If you went round your mate's house and the kid was presented to you, dressed up by their parents, with expertly applied make-up: creepy.
Like those weird children's beauty parades...

What on earth are you talking about? Do you think a photoshoot like this punctured their innocence forever? Do you think these kids were by themselves, maybe had cigarettes in between shoots, went for drinks at the end and then drove home as adults do then the next day threw out all of their toys and told their parents they've had enough of childhood and want to go out and work full time?
I can assure you there were parents/guardians accompanying all the children, that there were toys, food and general mayhem inbetween shoots and was nothing more then a fun filled day out for these kids who are normal kids who go to normal schools and do normal kids stuff and who probably also model normal kids clothes in catalogues or adverts etc.. where they can conform more to your standards.

Agree with SP completely. Paedophilia didn't even enter my mind. Children dressing up for their own sakes and children being dressed up by adults for the sake of adults is just plain wrong in my opinion. I bet none of those kids shown would have thought the idea up themselves or even been aware of the Oscars come to that.
And I agree BOO. The little girls would have loved to put on the dresses, but that is not the issue in my opinion. It was an event for adults. I have to laugh at all the dear little girls out shopping with their Mums, dressed very appropriately and then with a fairy or princess dress put on in haphazard fashion over the top of everything. I think that is just so sweet. The dresses are usually somewhat grubby and well worn. Glad I had a boy!!!!! ;o)
