Do You Agree
that the Chris Huhne and Vicky Pryce story has become idiotic ? Prison after their lives are already ruined. For such a minor offence.

It's all very sad, and silly really. I think a prison sentence is a bit harsh, in the grand scheme of things. I found myself in total agreement with Ken Livingstone the other evening on Sky news when he said that prison ought to be for those who are a danger to the public at large. I never imagined I'd find myself agreeing with him!

They have committed a serious offence and should be punished in line with everyone else irrespective of whether they have ruined their own lives by undertaking the crime.
A recent news story concerned a family that apparently burnt their own house down in order prove something / frame someone - they did not mean to kill all their children in this endeavour but were unable to get the kids out after they had started the fire. They have ruined their lives, they must live knowing that they killed their children - should they still be sent to prison? Of course they should

I'm inclined to give them a month inside to wipe the smug, supercilious smirks off their faces.
A fine wouldn't hit them hard enough.
Seeing them doing community service, litter picking, painting fences, clearing waste ground in deprived communities; basically getting their hands dirty and making the world a better place for others would satisfy me.

The reason that Lady Justice is blind-folded is so that she can mete out true Justice without fear or favour.
We are *all* bound under the same laws and should expect the same treatment regardless of status.
Vicky Pryce has her pyrrhic victory and must live with the consequences. Chris Huhne will also pay a high price for his hubris.
I hope that details of the sentencing are the last we hear of this pair.

well if you believe the stories doing the rounds, he reckons he'll be out in a couple of months , no big deal, and afterwards its back to a nice big earner in the city.
hes lost a job in politics, hes lost a small amount of face, but hes wealthy , he has wealthy friends, they all look after one another, he will be earning more than he ever would from politics , so depending on how you look at it crime does pay.
look at other politicians that have done time....doesnt seem to have affected them in any way, theyre all still loaded and making a mint, the same friends etc etc.
doing a bit of chokey is just a minor inconvenience for people like this

Baz, I'm inclined to agree and doubt a custodial sentence would make a jot of difference (it doesn't mean they shouldn't be given one though)....hence wanting to see them doing some community service. Preferably a lot of community service, outside in the cold and wet or at least in uncomfortable environments.
i actually don't think it's silly, except to say if the idiot Huhne had taken the damn points in the first place, none of this would have happened. He may well have lost his licence for a short time, but a driver would have been supplied or he could have hired a chauffeur, he is rich enough.. As to his idiot ex, she shouldn't have taken the points, beyond foolish, and now his career is over, and they both go to jail, what a pair of dunces.
