I don't think there is a max actually sandy, it's potentially a discretionary life sentence, so they could get -and serve - longer for manslaughter than they would for murder

I'm seething that this lowest of the low has only been charged with manslaughter and not murder. You deliberately start a fire in your house, with your children in it,to me is murder because, it's re-meditated and like what unfortunately happened instead of 'heroically' saving the children, they burn and die because you are unable to do your so-called heroics

Trouble is they can only go ahead with a charge they can prove, too risky to go ahead with a murder charge if they cannot prove all the relevant parts of a murder charge to convict.

For a murder charge to succeed they'd need to prove an intent to kill or seriously injure the children.
