Does anyone agree with me that anyone convicted of child abuse should be castrated or steralized.

I don't think that anyone convicted of child abuse should be castrated or sterilized. That would most likely be a cost to the public. I'd like something more sinister to happen to them, personally.

Do you mean Roy Meadow, Rocky? Those poor women. Sally Clark never got over her conviction.
That's the one BM, that man destroyed her didn't he :(

And am I right in thinking that even if a parent is exonerated later, any child that has been adopted is gone forever?

(unless the child chooses to make contact when they are >18)
Yes Zeuhl. Once an adoption order is made, that's it.
I think that's correct Zeuhl :(
i think that has happened, once adopted the child couldn't be returned to the parents. even though they were exonerated, what a tragedy.
I think you are right em, I seem to remember reading something like that a while back.

If you abuse a dog you can be banned for life from owning one. Why can't this apply to parents who abuse or neglect their children?
if you want to watch a true type tragedy, even though it's a drama,
is Cathy Come Home, i have yet to get through watching it without breaking down. Very realistic, and quite harrowing. The power of the state at it's worse.
It usually does Leahbee, future babies are taken at birth.
2 pages ago I asked you what would happen to those wrongly convicted - you have yet to answer.

As for your anrguement - please provide evidence of bans for life for abusive dog owners generally it is a 8 year ban!
imagine how you would feel if you had done nothing wrong..
I'm probably not the only one, but I think I am overqualified to answer on this subject, as in - don't even get me started!

"imagine how you would feel if you had done nothing wrong.."

Makes me feel sick to the stomach just to think about it, nothing would take that pain away, as poor Sally Clark found out.
Wasn't there a case of a woman a few years ago, who kept having children who were then taken away from her but she said she would carry on having them until she allowed to keep one. Or something like that anyway.
Castration or sterilization is not the same as being prevented from owning something. So any such comparison doesn't add anything to the discussion.
I wonder if the case you were thinking about was Mark and Nicky Webster, Em10. Very very sad case.

I remember that Tigg's, and they kept taking them away. At least there are plenty of loving families waiting to take them (if the authorities got their fingers out)
