Should Jack Russels Be Included As Dangerous Dogs
26 Answers
Whenever there is a tragedy involving dogs the usual crowd start baying for the heads of the Mastiffs and Ronnies etc.
Now a poor little tot has been killed by a Jack Russel.
So, should they now be banned?

We have a large Boxer, 42Kg. He is far larger than our previous bitch who was a nightmare but we bothered to pay for private lessons to learn how to handle a dog (from an ex-copper). The result, we have a beautiful well behaved and gentle dog.
Mind you I would not like to be a burglar sticking my leg through the window I must admit.
My main point was whenever it is a mastiff or similar heads must roll, but a small dog does it and we hardly hear anything.

No of course they shouldn't. As has been said, any dog has the potential to do harm, to children and adults alike. It is the responsibility of the dog owners and those who put their children in the company of dogs to ensure tragedies such as this don't happen.
Banning JRT's on the back of this won't help at all.

The question really should be, "are some people too stupid to have children?". I have a JR myself and I wouldn't trust him full stop. Do not leave a terrier of any kind alone with children. You may think you understand the dog, believe me, you don't. It's a sad case when this happens but I dispair at the stupidity of some people.
I had a jack Russell, he was lovely, very good with children, although I would never leae him alone with them. Most of the time you will find that it is the owners who are at fault, have not got a clue how to train dogs or handle them with children. What a ridiculous statement to say they should be banned, you obviously have no idea of the breed.
