I've just seen people whinging on the news about the ten match ban Suarez got for biting an opponent like an animal. Shouldn't they be directing their anger at the player for being such a thug?

I hope you're not a Q.C ludwig. :-)

Yes I agree ludwig, they should extract his teeth, it's not the first time.
The only reason the scousers are complaining is that he is their best player.
Yes. He should be banned. I was on at this on another thread. In 1994, John Le Roux of theSpringboks got banned for life after eating the All Blacks captain's ear. Football is to wussy-ish about this - stop the appalling role model exposure that this has given - NOW.
Perhaps he should be muzzled whilst playing.
People lose their temper all the time. Most people however are sensible enough to do so in a controlled way. Biting someone is just pathetic, and he can stop moaning. It's a shame that he's such a good footballer, as it shows that money and success are more important to some than morality.
"The Cannibal of Ajax" recieved a 7 match ban by the Dutch Authorities. As this is a repeat offence, the a longer ban should be imposed. 10 seems about right.

Any one wanting a lesser ban must a a delussional Liverpool supporter.

I like Daisynonna's suggestion. Seriously. They should either ban him for a season, or let him play as long as he's prepared to wear a muzzle. His choice.
A whole season ludwig, I assume, as opposed to the rest of this one?

Wouldn't argue with that at all.
I agree ludwig, and up here in the nw guess who is doing the most whinging, Liverpool, Cantona nine months for his kick on a fan, Ferdinand nine months for missing drug test both correct, this guy is very lucky, the first thing Utd did after Cantona kick was to fine him and suspend him for eight games, Liverpool just fine him that is really going to hurt a millionaire, are they going to come out at the next game with tshirts saying justice for Suarez?
I think Liverpool should sack him, and the sue him for loss of earnings for the club.
hey may not win, but tying him up in litigation for a while may make him think twice about behaving like a peevish child all the time, and it may make other clubs think twice about signing him while he is the subject of a judicial process.
Arrested development? Two year old toddlers in a tantrum bite when thwarted. Not supposedly grown men being paid obscene amounts of money. What a role model!
Surely the whole idea of a penalty is to prevent the player from doing it again. Seven matches didn't do the trick last time, so obviously this time it would have to be longer. Should have been 21 matches in my opinion.

Which is why I'm liking the muzzle option as the most effective penalty.
A bit of perspective please. The bite did Ivanovic no real harm. We see bad tackles every weekend and players do get harmed by them. If anything, the very common elbow in the ace is a worse offence. It is bad to see a grown man resorting to such childish and cheating tactics, but calls for a season ban are ludicrous. 10 match ban (because he has previous form) is about right.
ludwig, it's looking good

Muzzle sounds about right to me. Biting someone? I mean, I know that tempers and passions can rise in competitive sports - but biting?

I think a 10 match ban is too lenient...
Sorry for Typo, In the FACE .
I just cannot see any excuse for biting, even if caused no permanent harm. I mean - biting? What possesses someone to bite?
"A Chelsea defender once tried to tackle me. I ate his liver with a side of fava beans..."
