I did say a week or so back on this forum that many of these people who are bringing up old cases like Stuart Hall's case are doing it mainly to extract money from the "rich and famous".

Well here we have proof, a number of people are now going to sue Stuart Hall.

What next, adverts on TV saying "Been molested by a famous person- go to web site ive_been_molested.com - there is no win no fee".

That is quite clear and right when causation is established by the courts.

No argument there.

However in the case of Psychiatric evaluations, we, the lay people, cannot convince ourselves that the law, in these cases can differentiate the "wheat" from the "chaff".

No disrespect to the Law you understand and we, the laity, cannot think of a better system.

That's what lawyers call an evidential problem not a legal one, Sqad. The law is easy enough but what any judge deciding fact believes or doesn't believe proved, and what conclusions are drawn from any evidence, expert or otherwise, are a matter of human nature, reason, and understanding

And often the victim's partner needs counselling as well. It can be very hard to come to terms with the fact that your wife was abused as a child or young woman, or your husband for that matter - boys are abused too.

Anagram,. I don't think any INNOCENT old men are worrying about having put their arm around a youngster years ago, and thinking it may be misconstrued years later. Any old man who is sitting there worrying that something he's done in the past is going to catch up with him, is a guilty old man.

if you read a list of the charges, which he has admitted, this would be construed as sexual assault, whether then or now. why some continue on about the money, seem to miss the point entirely. That this man used his status, celebrity to lure often very girls and committed acts of indecency on them, against their will. The woman featured in the paper was offended, very upset by it, but chose not to pursue the matter years ago, because of what her father had told her, that they were nobodies and he was a somebody, a star, so who is going to believe a child? There is a lot of truth in that, particularly when you consider the time these events happened. Some get over it, some do not, to constantly assert that they are only after the money beggars belief. We have seen with the horrendous Jimmy Savile case and endless Catholic priests who abused their charges that many children won't be believed even if they did tell the authorities at the time. I for one think that the authorities will weed out those with no case to answer, and that those brave enough to come forward now, will at least perhaps get their day in court.

Well whatever happens, Stuart Hall's life (however long he has left) is now down the pan, but maybe he should have comnsidered that when he was abusing young women throughout his career. I have no sympathy for him whatsoever, none.

A big noise is being made about the fact he has signed over his house to his wife. This is the only thing he has done right, why should his poor wife have to suffer the possibility of losing her home for what he has done years previously...........

chapta...neither do I, but I am slightly concerned about where the compensation is going to come from. If it comes from Hall's own pocket, than I can't see a problem, but should the public purse, ie taxation pay out ?
