Croatia celebrates joining the EU, while Spain regrets it.

I wonder how long before Croatia regrets it. After all the EU hand-outs stop I suppose.

As much as I abhor the EU itself, Spain's particular problems stem not from its membership of the EU but from its participation in the project which has caused more harm than all other EU projects put together - namely the single currency.
This project - against which its architects were warned of its potential perils long before its introduction - has caused untold misery and penury for the citizens of all the "PIIGS" nations. Croatia will, as a new EU member, have no option but to adopt the euro. Since Euro fanatics seem to learn nothing from their mistakes no doubt the Croats will be given far too many euros for their kunas and then be encouraged to borrow vast sums which they will be told to spend on German goods. Soon after that they will be unable to repay their debts and unable to manipulate their exchange or interest rates.
Still, they can always get some advice from their Greek neighbours on how to handle such a crisis.

The term ‘Little Englander’ used in the context that it has been used here is an insult. It directly implies xenophobia and therefore maligns anyone who, understandably, expresses concern that ever-increasing immigration into this country is becoming a burden upon its infrastructure and, hence, its well-being. Such language in this instance is presumptuous, ignorant, and arrogant.
Shouldn't we be welcoming these people, if they do decide to come ? Won't they be filling vacancies in our job markets that the long-term British unemployed can't or won't fill themselves ?
Why can't our people do these jobs, that the foreigners are taking ? Could it be that they are better off scrounging off the rest of us tax payers ?

LOL, where are they ?, probably in that place called Jeopardy.
It is not just about jobs here is it (for those intent on welcoming more immigrants). It is about housing, medical services, schooling, water, electricity etc etc ...we can't keep up now, how on earth will it pan out in the future adding more population! I dread to think of the consequences for the future generation here on this island
