Do you think John Inverdale should lose his job over his remark about Marion Bartoli not being "a looker"?

No it was a slip of the tongue, he shouldn't have expressed a personal opinion, but I don't think it's a hanging offence. Marian Bartoli said it doesn't matter, if she had complained about it fair enough. Why do people make such scenes about things.
I don't know but it's the first time he's ever said something that isn't boring.
Why is it that when someone gives an opinion or says something that with hindsight they wouldn't have said all we hear is "get him sacked"
because he's made his employers look bad.
jno, he made himself look foolish not his employers.
I think his comment will damage him more than it will Bartoli
Who are they?
No he shouldn't lose his job, but he should apologise.
Inverdale is a fictional Scottish coastal town Sandy, Bartoli is an olive oil based spread.

Apparently.
I'm no judge of male pulchritude but isn't this a case of the pot calling the kettle black?
wasn't he an announcer at the BBC?

Bartoli, he can't believe she's not better!!
Hardly a 'slip of the tongue'.

I quite like John Inverdale, but his comments were so obviously unacceptable that I am amazed he thought he could utter them.

I think the BBC should drop him for it. No doubt he is self employed so it would be simple to do.

He would no doubt pick up lucrative work with a satellite broadcaster or sport radio, so don't worry about him.
Clare Balding kept her job after she embarrassed Grand National winning jockey Liam Treadwell infront of a worldwide TV audience saying he can now afford to get his teeth done
In fact, after reading that article, I definitely don't think he should be sacked. He was just trying to make a point and not expressing his personal opinion.
so if Sue Barker had said that Andy Murray was looking hot she's have been lambasted too?
Dot there's a difference between compliments and insults
i suppose, did the tennis player bother about it though?
This PC stuff lately is getting on my nerves, Of course JI shouldn't be sacked for a throw away comment. Get over it.
